Can I get the source on this? I’m interested. I find it hard to believe still, i guess she could meet the criteria but it just doesn’t seem to be consistent enough to me still. Like “oh i fuck ghosts of serial killers and everyone should be fine and accepting but i won’t tell my therapist even tho she apparently supports my otherkin beliefs that are honestly just as strange”

Also, why if she was diagnosed isn’t she talking about it all the time? Schizophrenia is one of the most, if not the absolute most, stigmatised conditions out there. You would get mad oppression points if you talked about that on tumblr.

Assuming her delusions don't include the ghosts (she did mention before that they were paranoid delusions) and just a game of pretend then she would probably not want to bring that up on a blog which she's using to validate her supernatural demonolatrist abilities. Her ghosts would just be brushed off as hallucinations.

She may have also at some point already gone through and moved past a schizo mi lking/asspat phase before we knew her, as I recall that was really popular back in the good old days of DeviantArt, where she was most active. Outside of her pretending to be MJ and nearly being disowned, do we know much else?

I hate to play armchair psychiatrist but she could have Schizotypal personality disorder. They are borderline schizos and are generally pretty lucid, if very weird. They often dress oddly and have a lot of paranoid delusions, which could be manifested through the oppression ideas and incidents like seeing racism in the restaurant where there likely was none. They also have a lot of trouble making close friends out of suspicion and this doesn't go away with familiarity so it often includes family. They can develop full on schizophrenia and experience full psychotic episodes, and are unlikely to seek help.

A huge indicator for it is full blown schizophrenia in first degree relatives, so I wonder if she was taken away from a parent because they had it?

2. Didn't she just have a toddler tantrum a week ago when she was forced to clean up a mess she made on the porch in regards to magic?

Page 15 of the thread. Like I said, as far as I know this is the only actual psychiatrist she's seen and that's what he came up with. It's probably also the reason she avoids talking about the ghosts with her therapist now. Also correct me if I'm wrong but "I've been hallucinating since I was a child" shouldn't rule you out for schizophrenia? I'm no expert on the DSM criteria but I don't think that's in there.

It doesn't NECESSARILY rule you out of a diagnosis but childhood schizophrenia manifests in some very specific ways, most notably irrational and violent outbursts. If all you have are the delusions of ghosts etc. that's just like.. having an imagination. So she's not really that off the mark here. Mental illness diagnosis is the least scientific form of diagnosis. People don't always share what's in their head.

What she's not understanding here is that there was a shift in focus from her suicide ideation to schizophrenia in the hopes of treating the source of her feelings, and it sucks that she's too convinced her elaborate fantasty world is legitimate to get help she might need. Schizophrenia is torture to deal with, right up there with borderline personality disorder, and it's a shame that Tumblr's anti recovery, Mental Illness Is A Good Substitute for a Personality mentality convinces people to lie or downplay their issues in order not to get help. Schizophrenia almost always ends in suicide untreated.

That being said I don't think she necessarily has it. She just strikes me as an edgy loony who doesnt know how to talk to actual people.

Maybe if you don't want people to hate you, don't act like a narcissistic asshole and talk about your crazy fantasies that make psych ward patients look tame in comparison.

Also, God help that cat. It's either going to die of neglect or be murdered in ritual sacrifice.

I can understand being angry at her dad getting it declawed and being too ignorant to Google it before actually getting it done (although just about any vet will tell you it's a harmful procedure and try to talk you out of it) but it's not like anything can be done about it now. The way she words it makes it seem like he specifically looked for a cat at a shelter or something that was already declawed. Maybe she wants to have it scratch her and use the blood as some kind of potion ingredient.

Well, that's clearly not true. Especially not her father.
I'm inclined to doubt her story even happened just by the way she has Tim Burton as a face claim for the doctor-- that sounds an awful lot like her fiction writing, BUT benefit of the doubt, yes, there are doctors who will press hard for a schizo diagnosis over belief in ghosts and yes a religious belief can get you out out of it, but I'm really interested in her family lying to...what, protect her from being labelled as crazy? That's incredibly misguided.

She's talked before about them taking over her body-- blamed MJ for her using AAVE, blamed Ramirez for violent threats on the internet...so I assume she means that they have taken, and are going to take over her body again to wreck house. I'm laughing my ass off at the mental image of Stephanie crashing through and getting winded from throwing a few baskets around.

Just to put an end to the armchair reading party, here is the DSM's criteria for Schizophrenia. Take what you will from it, im still not convinced personally. Through work and school i've gotten to talk to quite a few schizophrenics, and Steph just doesn't fit at all to me.
The DSM 5 outlines the following criterion to make a diagnosis of schizophrenia:

  1. Two or more of the following for at least a one-month (or longer) period of time, and at least one of them must be 1, 2, or 3:
  • Delusions
  • Hallucinations
  • Disorganized speech
  • Grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior
  • Negative symptoms, such as diminished emotional expression
  1. Impairment in one of the major areas of functioning for a significant period of time since the onset of the disturbance: Work, interpersonal relations, or self-care.
  2. Some signs of the disorder must last for a continuous period of at least 6 months. This six-month period must include at least one month of symptoms (or less if treated) that meet criterion A (active phase symptoms) and may include periods of residual symptoms. During residual periods, only negative symptoms may be present.
  3. Schizoaffective disorder and bipolar or depressive disorder with psychotic features have been ruled out:
  • No major depressive or manic episodes occurred concurrently with active phase symptoms
  • If mood episodes (depressive or manic) have occurred during active phase symptoms, they have been present for a minority of the total duration of the active and residual phases of the illness.
  1. The disturbance is not caused by the effects of a substance or another medical condition
  2. If there is a history of autism spectrum disorder or a communication disorder (childhood onset), the diagnosis of schizophrenia is only made if prominent delusions or hallucinations, along with other symptoms, are present for at least one month
