how

how can he owe ebay money. ccc's i can understand owing money to, but he didn't buy that ford focus on ebay. he's made like 3k by now and the listing fees can't be that bad.

seriously i don't want to conclude "WELP LEGOS LOL" like 75% of the posts in discussion but its just the only possible explanation.

I think Tragi-chan said it best, asking for $15,000 in cash ASAP for that car is extremely suspicious. The fact that he owes Ebay $300 comes from the fact that as a seller he should have known he has fees to pay but the car, something is not right in the state of Virginia.

They do have a lot of genuine debt, and it's likely that Barb is taking some of the income to cover expenses. Especially if they are putting money into repairing 14BLC. Plus art supplies, yes some Lego, and both Chris and Barb being unable to plan ahead at all.

I wonder if Chris is aware how dodgy asking for immediate cash ASAP for a second-hand car sounds. Especially that much cash for a car that old.

They probably don't see how dodgy it sounds. Charb aren't known for their skills at human interactions- they just see an emergency and know that cash is accessible for use quicker than any other method of payment.

I think it was Marvin (correct me if I'm wrong on that) who pointed out earlier that the price tags on all the cars are so high because that's what they originally cost and Barb doesn't understand depreciation at all.

15,000 cash... hahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahaha.

300 owed to eBay? This means he has made 3,000 last month. eBay charges you 10 percent of your final sale price, and 10 percent of shipping (if applicable) I don't recall ever having to pay eBay more than 20 dollars per month because most months, I don't even break 50 dollars in sales. Most of the time, my monthly fees come to less than 10, or even 5 dollars, which is automatically taken out of my PayPal, as another user noted. So for Chris to owe eBay this much money is very telling. He's been a member of eBay for how long, and he didn't think to set aside money for eBay fees? But then he didn't set aside money for shipping before, so eh. 300 dollars is best spent on legos anyway, amirite?

Final value fees are very high on ebay, and they also apply the rate to shipping.

When Chris gets money from ebay, 10% of it is an illusion. Instead of just shafting you right out of the gate by docking the paypal transaction of the money, ebay permits the whole gross sum (less paypal's addtl. fees) and makes a little green-visor accountant note of it off in the distance. A month later, you get a brick shit in your messages saying you owe 10%+ of all the items' you sold end prices added together.

So if Chris sold $3,000 worth of goods, that works out to a fierce $300 sucker punch by ebay at the end of the "selling period."

30.00 medallion
-$3.36 shipping
-approx $2.00 materials
(little boxes, brown paper roll, cotton puddin', laminate, cardstock for certificate, leather string, gas to post office)
-$3.00 final value fee
- $0.87 + $0.30 paypal fee

Total deduction of $9.53.

Every time Chris uses money from his ebay sales, he needs to be aware enough to save roughly a third of it JUST to pay expenses.

...or has a cracked engine block.

Anyhow, how many times now has Khrisp begged for money to cover his eBay/PayPal fees....to immediately be followed by some multi-thousand dollar windfall....followed immediately by begging for money to cover his eBay/PayPal fees?
Does he forget what the multi-thousand dollar windfall is there to pay for?

I guess that could explain it.

Oh come now, I'm sure some of the money he made must've gone to Barb's teeth! I mean, he made a big deal about it last time he was desperate for money. Surely Chris wouldn't have used his mother as an excuse to make some cash to purchase more toys, would he?

That and she must be assuming that if you hold on to something, it becomes an antique that you can sell at a profit. Whether it be a Dali Print or a voodoo doll made of navel lint, doesn't matter. Every crumb of Barbage goes onto Antiques Roadshow and gets appraised at 999 Bazillion Dollars.

Wow that was completely unexpexted! /sarcasm

What does eBay do if you owe them money?

They send the cybermafia to break your virtual kneecaps?
Nah. According to earlier posters they put your account on probation and get collection agencies involved.....but I suspect that is after they garnish as much of your sales money as they can get out of you.
Which in OPL's case is going to be a waste of their time, considering he probably empties his PayPal the moment a penny is added to it.

Asks money for Legos.
Complains about $300 fee on eBay.
Begs for money for Barb's Teeth.
Demands $15,000 in cash for BMW.
Somewhat off topic but he doesn't mention much about repairing 14 BLC. If they don't care much about 14 BLC, that $3,000 he earned that you guys mentioned should be enough to cover the $300 fee oh wait a second never mind because of Legos. I don't sell on eBay so I have no idea but yeah.*yawn*

Barb is handling the rebuild. Chris probably knows less about what is going on with it than we do.
