10/9/14 - Chris owes Ebay money; wants cash only for the BMW

Pretty sure it's the Cadillac with the cracked engine block not the BMW. This is just overpriced.

Sure the Caddy has the cracked block.....but one wonders what unreported "issues" plague the beemer.
Besides the last oil change/tuneup being during the Bush administration -- Bush Senior, I mean -- it probably hasn't been given anything but 83 octane gas and garden hose water in the radiator.
Probably the hoses are all rotting and the belts are all loose.

I'd imagine the beemer probably needs a new clutch, timing belt or both. And if it's been sitting since Bob's passing, it's unwise to even try and start it.

most ebay sellers will remember the ebay fees when listing multiple items

And the shipping fees...

I was about to bring this up, but you beat me to it.

I felt that Chris deserved a break at the beginning of all this, because up until now, he was only making sporadic sales; an item here and an item there. Chris has never had to deal with the type of volume/demand he's dealing with now.

Still, you'd think after the last time this happened he would have learned. Maybe the next time will be the charm.

$15,000 cash eh? Good luck with that.

I wonder how much the Chandlers could get if they brought it to a dealership. It might be a more immediate (if not more realistic) way to get some much needed funds from selling the BMW.

I said it before. They should have traded in the BMW when they purchased the new car. That would have made much more sense.

Haha $15K in cash, keep dreaming Chris.

If someone tried withdrawing $15K from their account(s) they'd immediately get reported to FinCEN for potentially suspicious activity. No one's gonna want to go to that trouble for a used hoarder car.

Actually, if Charb tried depositing that hypothetical $15K they'd get reported to FinCEN too.

I'm guessing they want it in cash so that it can be immediately available upon deposit. Too bad that sort of thing is insanely fishy.

Considering the 15k asking price is coming from Barbs inability to understand the value of old cars, I wouldn't be surprised if they tried trading in the old car but the car dealer just didn't feel like giving them a Ford Focus and a Minivan in return.

I suspect that Chris-Tran regards any cash windfall, much like the first time, as sweepstakes winnings. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that the moment Fatty saw that $3,000 pile up in his pay-pal account, he put on his best denim miniskirt, fired up Sonchu2 and went to the nearest Toys R Us where he waddled up and down the isles piling Lego sets into his cart as fast as he could grab them off the shelves. Maybe he thought enough to put some dough aside for MeeMaw's teefs or whatever, but I wouldn't put much money on it.

Well Barb probably took some, and then a large chunk was spent on McDonalds and girly clothes. But yeah, the rest definitely went to Legos.

So Chris' solution to high eBay seller fees is to rack up more seller fees by selling his drawings?

Because we all know that even if he did sell a drawing or two, he wouldn't save money from that sale for those seller fees, and the cycle will continue like a horrendous ouroboros.

It's really his only option at this point, so you can't blame him for that. He's running a business, and the only way to get more money to cover expenses is to move more product. Failing to save is a completely different issue than trying to sell more.

The dealer wouldn't give them $2000. Maybe $1000. Still, better to have money towards a far better car than to have something rot away in your yard, but this is Barb we're talking about. And didn't the top in the BMW need replacing at one point? I think it did. Which means potential damage from exposure to the elements as well as damage from woodland critters. That includes the interior and anything that could get into the engine bay.

As for the fees and shipping, when have we ever known Chris to plan ahead for anything?

Yes, but he's made the same mistake twice within weeks (failing to reserve the shipping and fees money from the sales proceeds) so it seems reasonable to wonder if he'd do it again.

Another thought I've had recently. I believe it's the FBI who actually investigates large sums of money coming into and out of banks. I thought it was somewhere between $8,000-10K that if you suddenly got into a bank account they'd flag you and investigate to make sure you weren't doing anything illegal.

Even if OPL actually got someone ween or stupid enough to buy the car, then the funds would still be frozen temporarily while it's investigated. That's all we'd need is his unholy 3/4 lesbianness raging about the feds!

More than reasonable. I think Chris-Tran sees a pile of money and his immediate reaction is something like: "I have won da contest and now I...mmm...I get da toys!" Any consideration for payments he'll have to make in the future are overwhelmed by autism and an overwhelming impulse for immediate gratification.
