She had working class parents who wouldn't have known art from a velvet painting of Elvis, but there she was decorating her room in a Kahlo theme she cobbled together by making stencils, crazy for that unibrow or something I guess. She majored in art history and then got a pretty normal job. 10 year olds are all master spergs about something, some weirder than others.

Yeah, I get where you are coming from. The thing about being interested in Kahlo just added up to all the other stuff that seemed forced to me. For example, I would look through his IG page and see him pose with a BDSM mask or older guys in leather. It's unbelievably creepy.

And I am pretty certain that the adults maintaining the space would have gladly reported this kid’s mother to CPS if he ever came around that group. I think when it comes to LGBT youth groups, most of the adult volunteers are decent people who can spot that kind of parent a mile off. I really don't think the average LGBT youth group has its predators, it's when the group is affiliated with "other interests" I'd worry, like the drag kids.

I think age is the biggest factor here. Teen groups are relatively normal, since teens are actively exploring their identity and have the agency to join a group themselves. A gay teen interested in drag will probably become a gay adult interested in drag, no problem. Prepubescent kids don't have that kind of desire or independence, so these kids who are "trans" or "drag queens" (they are overwhelmingly in those two groups) are just sons being groomed by their moms to be dress-up dolls.

The saddest thing is that in all likelihood, the parents will get away with this, and 100% of the burden will be on the kid. Toddlers and Tiaras prompted all of one legal case questioning whether a mother forcing her daughter to dress like a prostitute is really fit to take care of her, and even that turned out to be inconclusive.
