Exactly. As one guy put it: if a movie angers you you can't exactly go back in time and unwatch it, the only recourse the customer has is to avoid the next film by the studio, director, etc.
More of this "woke enlightened male feminist/film critic says this movie is flawless cause feminism and all that shit".
I kinda love how these hipsters think only "gross white male nerds" dislike this movie, and never take into account the voices of women (this film is peppered with faux feminism) and racial minorities (all the POC characters are turned into fools or are submissive to the white characters) who also disliked this film.

I wasn't that fond of Solo, but I agree that it was probably the only new SW movie which I actually got some amusement out of, so to me it was the best one in the lot. I think its because it felt... I don't know... "bigger" and more original. The world no longer felt small and restricted in a sense, the OT callbacks/references are kept to a minimum (by Disney Wars standards), and Solo starts off as a flawed hero that slowly improves and even had a 2 year timeskip to improve himself and gain skills, unlike other Disney SW protags which are just born perfect or become perfect after just a few days. I wasn't too fond of how they made Solo seem less like a criminal smuggler who deals in spice/drugs, but they gotta keep up that deceitful family friendly image. Basically E;R summed up my thoughts on the movie quite well.
I'd like to but i lack the space for books right now unfortunately and i'd like to know which to buy, i know that Timothy Zahn books and the X-series is good (i had the trilogy and the first X-wing novels but i also read a lot of rather mediocre novels so i prefer to make informed choice now)
I made some suggestions to UnKillFill a few pages back and it seems you already read some of the suggestions I made before, but like Flexo, I highly suggest you at least buy some of the better books, comics and games if still available (and if you don't have older game consoles then torrent away for some emulators). Since you already have the Thrawn books and one X-Wing book, I suggest you buy the other X-Wing books along with these:
1: The Dark Lord Trilogy of books (tells the story of Anakin/Vader after the ROTS and leading up to a ANH) 2: KOTOR and KOTOR 2 games (takes place 3000 years before the OT and even people who aren't that into SW like these) 3: Darth Plagueis (a dark story for Dark Side lovers detailing the life of Palpatine and his Sith Master as seen through a grim lens) 4: Battlefront II game (the original one, not the EA one, usually considered the best SW game out there and people still make mods and fanmade expansions for it, so torrent) 5: The Star Wars Jedi comics (Prequel focused about the jedi and one also focuses on expanding Dooku's character) 6: Jango Fett: Bounty Hunter game (basically a bounty hunter simulator detailing some of Jango's past and it comes with a free digital comic book which you can unlock as you progress through the game) 7: The Star Wars Tales of the Jedi comics (which served as inspiration for KOTOR and have been referenced many times in other media) 8: The Star Wars: Dark Forces game and its sequels (Rogue One drew some inspiration from this game and Jyn Erso was loosely based on Jan Ors. The game is good but the acting in cutscenes may get to you unless you like campy Flash Gordon-esque acting) 9: The Essential Guides (basically just encyclopedia books about aliens, cultures, planets, animals etc but they're a fun read if you're into lore shit or want some material for a tabletop game) 10: The Darth Bane trilogy (details the life of the Sith who founded the Rule of Two which Palpatine would follow)
I also recommend any other books written by Zahn and James Luceno (if you want a detailed list of their stuff let me know), just look up their names and you'll be good. Also, the Dark Empire comic series is sort of a mixed bag that's usually recommended, but older fans have issues with Luke briefly succumbing to the Dark Side which even made me do a double take which always gave me a sort of mixed feeling towards that series, but compared to Luke's disastrous fall in TLJ, that no longer makes me even bat an eye and made me enjoy that series.
Finally, there are many other books whose quality vary heavily depending on their age demographic, author, the theme/genre they cover or simply personal taste. And there are many books, comics, games etc which even I haven't gotten into yet (30 freaking years worth). So if you don't have enough money or you wanna read first before buying, then here's a good site that hosts the majority of books for download:
Edit: NVM saw your last post. If you lack the space then use Hungry Ewok and download away. But if you ever do make space for more books and enjoy some of my suggestions, I hope you will consider adding them to your collection of physical copies.
As for skipplable books, for example the Ewok books are kid stuff with nothing stimulating but if you got some kids or younger family members, they're worth buying for them. As for authors, Kevin J. Anderson is usually an absolute no. Only way I could read his books was by mentally editing out all the crap. Also stay clear of the old Marvel UK comics (AN ABSOLUTE NO and their canonicity is debatable anyway), same for the Crystal Star novel. The US Marvel comics of the 70s with the infamous Jaxxon are entirely dependent on whether or not you can stand Jaxxon's awful design and color scheme for more than 2 pages, luckily he gets written out after issue 16 (but then Disney brought him back lol), otherwise the comics are... okay I guess, minus the inconsistencies. There are some moments I kinda liked though, like the Sith Beast and some moments here and there, and the comic was released before ESB yet contains some info about Siths, Mandalore and a few things that wouldn't be revealed until the prequels, but the comics are not a must, their events may get referenced in other media but its really nothing too important unless you just want some campy scifi to pass the time.
I forgot to list Tales, its just chock full of content. I love Legacy (minus the whole Dac genocide) but it usually gets rejected by disillusioned new fans who I give recommendations to since while they hate TLJ (and are open to reading old stories that take place before the OT after they saw TLJ) they say they'd rather read something that follows up a future where TFA wasn't "ruined" by Rian Johnson and Kennedy. I can probably understand them liking the TFA characters, but Rey and Kylo are basically just the Solo Twins under new names, and even back before Disney, people bashed the Solo Twins for the same reasons they bash Rey and Kylo. Not to mention the new setting offers so little for quality stories. Especially the factions. The First Order and the Resistance bring nothing new and are just more retarded and incompetent versions of the Empire and Rebels, so they have little value as compelling factions for story, characters and games.
Technically the EU did enforce his death (and the story from that comic was a what if) but George and Filoni wanted to bring him back for some reason (some say it was because sentimentality for the character but I think George just wanted him brought back for ratings). Hence why he was in the Clone Wars cartoon and others. Personally the only thing worse than bringing him back was making him talk so damn much.
That's the problem, and giving him a brother seemed absurd anyway. Why not just make a new faction? Could it be that Filoni really doesn't have that many original ideas?
He didn't apparently. Most of his original ideas in Rebels were either references to other things, weird fixations with wolves or just plain dumb. And Maul's brother Savage Opress (brilliant name by the way/sarcasm) was so fucking cringy and forcefully edgy. I can only wonder what was going through Filoni and George's heads.

Seriously, why not just have Mother Talzan use her Dark Side sorcery to wreck shit? She's there, obscure, and powerful enough to be a secondary antagonist. But no, Maul for fanservice. It's why he was in Solo, for fanservice that most fans find absurd and non-fans don't understand.

Actually the story wasn't a what if but i think canon at the time. But if you say he was always dead... well so did the comic. (It's the only "return" I'll accept.)

It was a lot less bad than the potentially non-canon where a mad scientist was keeping Maul brain alive and Luke was the one that pulled the plug to let Maul finally die, that was a weird one

I think it wasn't until the final season where they finally realized that Talzan was a far more interesting villain than Maul when they used her in the Mace Windu episodes. Still wasted potential. And what was the point of Savage anyway? They could've just had Maul go back to Talzan and have her rejuvenate him instead of Savage (or have her powers be responsible for Maul surviving so much shit) or something since Savage was everything a resurrected Maul could and should've been, minus the name and yellow skin.
Here's my potentially controversial opinion: Solo was okay and don't the hate, i mean it has some problems like that droid being obvious shoehorned sjwisms but it was what i wanted: Entertaining
The thing with the droid seems like no one had an idea what to do with their character. It would be funny as a one-note joke, but then they tried to make the droid into a serious character/Lando's love interest? And it's kind of weird they didn't put in IG-88 somehow, since given the movie's focus on crime, "droid rights", and Star Wars fanservice/random namedropping, you might as well throw in everyone's favorite droid bounty hunter who wants to mass murder all non-droids. Would've made way more sense than Darth Maul, since if you've never seen Rebels or whatever, Darth Maul is dead, while IG-88 will later be one of the bounty hunters sent out to capture Han Solo in Empire Strikes Back.
But I agree--Solo is a flawed, but entertaining movie.

I thought "Savage Opress" was a shitty fanfiction character until I noticed he had a Wookieepedia article.
And then they made the Darth Maul story even dumber by having him become a crime lord (and shoehorned it into Solo for who knows what reason) and having him be killed by Obi-Wan right before the events of A New Hope or something. But knowing Darth Maul he'll probably be back for Episode IX or the Rian Johnson trilogy/single movie/whatever that abortion will be.
