Why would someone interested in comics go to a TV and Funk Pop convention?
They have this odd idea that if everyone ever makes a 'brave stand' against CG then it will go away.
They think of activism as having a similar arc to oscar bait movies, the main character (MLK or whoever) starts campaigning and makes a stand for some time, then the bad guys magically back down under pressure. Combine this with dumbass millenial slacktivism, and you get dumbasses thinking that with enough retweets they can change the world! They have this odd idea that if everyone ever makes a 'brave stand' against CG then it will go away. People don't think like that, if you got all my heroes to denounce say vaccines it'd just make me angry and distrustful it won't actually make me change my mind.
I remember Dan "looks like he's dying and ignores the little girls crying"Olsen was obssesed with channel awsome condeming GG, which even if it succeded and ignoring hindsight wouldnt have stopped anything.
Or Zoe quinn will do something moronic to make the situation worse?
She'll do her friend Robbi one better and Tweet pictures of her semen repository to D & C.
I remember in the history books when people did bad things and then someone came up to them to say "Dude, you're on the wrong side of history" and they went "Yeah, you're right". It's not like everyone is the protagonist of their own story and it's entirely possible someone sniffing their own farts would think "I'm right about everything".
I just want to see where they found whatever gave them the idea that SJWism is the "will of the universe" instead of us being a bunch of apes on a wet dirtball floating in a merciless void. Was there some troon on a mountain top who could hear this Supreme Power talking to them? All the worst people in the history of the world have said they were on the right side of history. It's sort of their defining characteristic.
So you believe inI too believe in some all powerful force that dictates the direction history will go in.
This is something I've thought a lot about in the broader group of really crazy social-justice-type people. There's no real way to de-escalate from all of this when you're still doing it well into your 30's, and even if there was they haven't shown any inkling that they're ever going to do that. My theory is that they're going to go the way of the hippies and either die from drug overdoses or end up clinging to life as parasites on the welfare system. When I see people ironically claim they're "on the right side of history", I wonder what they will be like when they get old. Especially if CG wins and anti-CG is remembered as a "the bad guys".
Will they claim to have been on CGs side all along, pretend it never happened, or will they be at the retirement home throwing porridge at the nurses while screaming "FUCK DRUMPF! EVS IS A NAZI!"?
There are two basic options here. One is to keep fighting long after you've lost because you still know you're in the right. The other is to cash in your chips with the table that will still let you play. When I see people ironically claim they're "on the right side of history", I wonder what they will be like when they get old.
