A focus on gameplay, as the developers have stated their goal is, is not a bad thing at all. But striving to impress what remains of shock culture with a tryhard edgy wannabe massacre shooter's wet dream seems like a bit of a waste for what looks like really well-done use of Epic's Unreal Engine. The developers are also associated with Neo-Nazi stuff and right wing extremism, but I won't stray into political territory, because what I want to know is what other people think about the game preview itself.

Real talk : the gameplay looks like it's a throwback to the first Postal game and while it looks incredibly tryhard in it's edginess, it might have solid gameplay and that's the main metric I'll be judging it on. There's not a whole lot of gameplay to judge it on though, and those execution moves look like they're just completely pointless except to you know, raise the shock value and they're imo detrimental to the actual gameplay, since you're activating a mini-cutscene in the middle of gameplay and that usually takes me out of the game.

Btw, games that want to really cash in on it's "shock value" thrive on people getting offended about it, as it generates buzz that makes people more aware of it and edgy kids want to buy it. So if people are upset about the style it's going at it's themes(very understandable), it's better to not create or contribute the buzz on social media that the devs want. This forum's not going to make or break the game's reputation but it's just good to keep in mind because shocked reactions and publicity is what the developers of games like this want.

Was anyone else kind of bored by this? The execution style killing and the people begging for mercy was disturbing, sure, but apart from that I just kind of feel like I don't care. I don't want to know what happens in this story, I don't want to play a part in it.

They were dragging it out for that long because they didn't actually have much to show. :alog:

The gameplay actually looks okay, kind of like POSTAL 1 in HD (though it looks like the objective is to kill everybody including innocents, unlike in POSTAL 1 where all you had to do was kill hostiles). The one thing that's really putting me off is the edginess of it all. I'm okay with ultra-violence, I just don't wanna play as DMC5 Dante on Linkin Park steroids. To be fair, we don't know much about the game other than the trailer, so maybe he's supposed to be a parody of edgelords and they're not playing it as straight as we think they're going to. A lot of people on Fullchan's /v/ are saying that it's just a really dry parody, but right now it just looks to me like tryhard fodder.

EDIT: Heck, there's already a ton of people talking about it, so the way it's being advertised could easily be a marketing ploy.

In this photo of the development team, we can see that one of the developers wears a shirt depicting a historical anti-communist military group (Żołnierze wyklęci, historically associated with the Freikorps) that is lionised by right wing extremists.

Another team member, ‘CEO and Animator’ Jarosław Zieliński, has prominently displayed an endorsement on his public Facebook page of the Polska Liga Obrony: an established nationalist Islamophobic, anti-immigration hate group.

As some would say, it looks like a knock-off of Running With Scissors Postal series except with a protagonist who would want to be taken seriously (and not to mention, lacks any charm the Postal Dude has save for maybe appealing to those who would want the likes of police and/or innocents killed). As Spaps said (along with RetardBus since he brought this up to me), it may just be some sort of marketing ploy to get it attention.
