reddit General

So one of the only good places on Reddit, /r/drama, has gone private and is probably about to be banned.

I'm not sure if it's even worth getting into, but here's the condensed version from what I could gather.

1) A few months ago, admins told /r/drama that pinging users to come to drama threads that were about them was "harassment" and they needed to stop. So Drama was already on thin ice with the administrators
2) Someone shit on Reddit poweruser and douchebag Gallowboob (I assume if you read this thread you're probably at least passingly familiar with GB, long story short he has more karma than any other user on Reddit, is a marketer, and a lot of people really hate him) in Drama
3) GB responded, there ended up being some sort of argument, and a user made a comment that could have been construed as harassment if you're a whining baby, which GB is.
4) Mods were pretty sure GB was going to take this comment to the admins, thus giving them the final reason to shut down /r/drama.

and my favorite part, proving that, as entertaining as /r/Drama is, it's still Reddit:

5) Mods quickly started deleting comments to avoid admin involvement, which led to users complaining about mods deleting comments, which led to more deleted comments, which led to comment graveyards all throughout the subreddit, which in turn led to the mods making the subreddit private. This is SOP practice for literally every subreddit on Reddit, a cascading mess due to shitty mod communication and randomly deleted posts.

In summary, now Drama is private, GB is cranky, and admins might finally shut the subreddit down

Edit: Note that this is basically what I've been able to piece together from the thread in /r/SubredditDrama, and I have no idea how accurate any of this is.

...in minecraft.

Did they actually incite someone to violence or is it an excuse to ban wrongthink.
cringeanarchy finally killed it
entire front page was consistently just news articles from 2 years ago about how blacks are bad or something and people unironically agreeing
i miss the zoomposting and schizo rants from the perspective of someone living an insane life

I doubt /r/drama is getting banned, there's just one moderator there who has this autistic hatred for posters from /r/milliondollarextreme (who are fucking annoying, but hardly alone in that regard on /r/drama). To give you an idea, he tweaked the AutoMod to spam "you have to go back, out OUT OUT!" as a series of comment replies to anyone who has MDE in their posting history. It's the most retarded thing a drama mod has done in at least six weeks, as it just fills every thread with comment spam and half the time you click a link with 50+ comments expecting funny discussion or at least internal drama it's 3/4 automod spam and a couple MDEfugees circlejerking each other.

Now that MDE is banned they're taking the sub private so the refugees find some other place to pwn SJWs and e-fellate Sam Hyde. I'm sure it'll be back in a day or so, or I'm going to have to find new light reading material at work.

r/mde got banned...aw man, now r/cumtown is gonna be filled with mdefugees and be even worse than usual

there's a lot of subs on reddit that act as containment zones for awful people, and if those subs get deleted, the posters will find new subs to ruin. i don't like r/the_donald, but imagine if it got banned? the poor mods over at r/conservative already do nothing but ban people constantly, imagine a sudden centipede infestation. (they would probably also go to r/republican, but r/republican deserves it)

r/chapotraphouse is terrible, and I say this as a leftist. that's because the moderators are terrible and don't keep it under control. large subs need heavy handed moderation or they suck.

They've also banned r/TrillionRubelRegime

Nahh they would just move over to cringeanarchy full time. I do wonder where these people are going to migrate too. I wonder if they will start doing offsite shenanigans ala Incels.me. Maybe they will all move to Voat. My hope is that this causes some sort of shitstorm as these guys bother other subs

/r/mde was an aggregate for modern 4chan memes like boomers and shit like that, I presume they were about to start posting npc stuff but never got the chance as they were deleted. The subreddit fell victim to what every subreddit does, images, that only take a second to look at and give epicupboats to are sent to the top while textposts are near ignored. A trend then forms and the page becomes what it was at its deletion, all screenshots of videogame and tv characters with cookie cutter "I don't know _____ 6 million is a lot!" titles.

The only contradiction to this were the 'wholesome' 'self improvement' text posts and comments which consisted of 'I gave up porn and now I'm ready to save the white race' 'we are gonna make it' which were just slow clunky versions of the /SIG/ threads on /pol/ and /fit/

All in all /r/MDE had funny content a few times a week so I would keep an eye on it, but it never really produced any original content of its own, in the past year or so anyway. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did and the final nail in the coffin I bet was calling Serena Williams a chimp which hubby didn't like.

Yeah, after I posted that, I saw some of the drama regulars in SRD talking about having an awesome tea party in the private drama subreddit, so I think it's not as serious as I initially thought.

Which means that the /r/drama rule of "make everything super dramatic even if it's not" even applied to this. Now that's taking your gimmick seriously!
