Those animatronic cat ears are really annoying, though I haven't really seen them as a "thing" in quite some time. At this panel I hosted at a furry con a few years ago there was someone in the back of the audience wearing a set of them and they were the most distracting goddamned things because they just kept twitching instead of moving or whatever. I don't know if they were calibrated wrong or if that's just the ears' response to the thought "nurrr" but it kept screwing up my line of thought and I eventually asked the person to take them off.
Mind you, this was in a room full of people wearing fursuits and the loudest clothing imaginable, and it was a mere set of robot cat ears that pissed me off.

It's always the little thing's that get you at any public event, the brain just picks them out from the sea of weird infront of you and set's up shop in your brain loudly announcing "I am annoying as fuck and wont stop while you talk".

since i love halloween and i frequent tumblr: not yet. there have been posts about not wearing racist costumes, how dia los muertes is not for halloween.. nothing too radical yet. but i assume it will get worse (?) nearer to halloween night. have yet to see posts screaming "X COSTUME IS KINPHOBIC" although i'm waiting on it.

Goofy hat aside, as much as I'd like to rip into this picture I can't. The sentiment behind it, while ridiculous, is pretty sincere. Hate to sound like a Tumblrite, but their appropriation of otherkin is kinda shitty and an insult to a community of people I've personally mingled with countless times.
Every time I see this picture it makes me think of a friend of mine who was a bit too troubled for this world. He's been dead 13 years now; I know the whole "I'm a dragon spirit" thing is a weird paradigm to understand but for his sake I hope he was right.

As long as the themes and story structure remains intact, and the actors do a fine job portraying the characters, it really shouldn't matter what race / color they are. Also, I'd be more worried about them not totally fucking up the adaptation (if it even makes it out of development hell) than whether or not an actor is Pro/Anti something.

That, and Motoko Kusanagi has full-body prosthesis. Thus, it's not out of the realm of possibility that she could have a body that resembles a western woman.
It's not the casting we should be pissed at, it's the fact that Hollywood is gonna ruin another anime. Have we learned nothing from Dragonball Evolution?
