She's not going to take care of it.
She's going to fawn over it for half a day, if that, and then get bored of it once she realizes animals have some sense of independence and don't churn out a constant stream of bloggable moments and instagram highlights. She'll get bored, forget it exists, and then the necessary, undesirable parts of petcare like scooping the litterbox, feeding, brushing out tangles, cleaning up vomit, and claw trimming, will fall to her parents. She'll mention the cat once every six months or whenever it becomes convenient.
The cat will be fine. Staph isn't living by herself.
