The ding dong rampart thread really was the catalyst for the abs9lute implosion of the LP forum. The funny thing about it is that it caused slowbeef to absolutely hate weeaboo.vidya, despite it being the type of thing that's normally right up his alley. I can't agree on the game being hypersexualized by and large though, but one of the highlights of that whole thread was when what was probably the most sexual image in the game got posted, and was met with 5+ pages of assblasted posts about it. The only thing that topped that was the actual thread locking shitstorm that occurred when one of the girl characters turned out to have a penis.

The scariest part of this is I remember 2014, these kinds of gender related shitstorms were mostly made up of fringe groups and not actual mainstream discourse. I don't remember the reaction to Chihiro being too bad on tumblr (and by that I mean it wasn't a complete nuclear meltdown) and the worst of it has been relegated to much more recent discourse, where DR is less relevant. I fear the day something that gets as popular as Dangan Ronpa in its peak has another gender reveal.

This is a pretty high horse for someone on the forum with HellDump that has spent six years stalking a racist alabama hotdog vendor and the Star Citizen developers.

Maybe some forum members who have been here longer than myself knows the answer, but I can't for the life of me understand why so many people vocally and aggressively try to push the idea that the people who enjoy kiwiFarms, /r/drama, n-gate, etc must be pathetic losers. Surely they understand schadenfreude and the human appeal of drama?

The REEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees were worse then than I have seen from any trans panic issue in entertainment before or after. I think the fact that Chihiro was A) brutally murdered, and B) wasn't actually trans, just a boy afraid of his own masculinity, really made things fun.

The reality though, is that the good denizens of SA weren't adult enough to have a conversation about a hypothetical boy who dresses as a girl getting murdered due to someone else's inferiority complex. Go figure.

We're having fun and doing the things that SA used to be before it went to shit. The people who are upset are either A) too beaten down and cucked by the current forum climate to speak up or do anything about it (because they'd be immediately banned) or B) are the kinds of dregs that were attracted in by the gradual channel drift of Something Awful's community.

In short, either they have the world's worst case of trolls' remorse, or just never knew how to have fun watching idiots in the first place.

I have very limited analytics because I use an open-source alternative to Google Analytics, but this is what I can see from the 17th onwards, which includes 3 days before I put in the ad. It should give you an idea of how it squares up.

The msn.com one I don't actually know and it is anomalous: on one day we were apparently on the front page of msn.com.
8ch.net / 4chan.org / tumblr.com are linking to the threads we have on animal abuse.
Something Awful's paid-for traffic comes in under that.

So besides a very popular wiki discussing the most famous lolcow of all time, the frontpage of fucking Microsoft News, and organic traffic about what is probably the largest story we've had all year, the $30 advertisement I've gotten is the top referrer to the entire site.

Now it's worth noting that this tool can only monitor referrers that actually leave their referrer information in, and many, many privacy tools remove it. FireFox has a built in privacy feature that removes it. So the actual amount of traffic for these links and others is broadly unknown but chances are the percentage of people using privacy tools on 4chan and Something Awful are about the same..

At the current rate we can expect to see 1,900 visits from Something Awful resulting in 8,107 actions and 114 hours spent on the site as the result of $30 spent. Considering the target for that ad is this thread, we can assume those are Something Awful users spending 114 hours in the Something Awful thread. At least, based on what we know about it. (You'll also notice SA has the lowest bounce rate of any of those links, meaning the people who come here are more likely to stay here than any other referrer.)
