I know I asked it a page or more back, but I keep wanting to ask, how do they expect to keep an audience when 5 months into watching something new they're nailing it to a cross? I can't reasonably believe they're gonna follow mlp into gen 5 given their current opinion of the show. they don't take suggestion and her standards are so high, I can't see them jumping to just being a general analysis youtuber either.

Is there anything Lily DOES like?

I just briefly dropped into one of Jerry's livestreams and noticed that his voice oddly enough sounds more feminine when she's not following a script. Not sure if he's feigning it or not.
Also Sketchy is still hanging with him, as he was participating in the voice chat. That's a bummer. :|

lol my first thought when reading that title was "wow that title format looks familiar, feels like he's taken it from Hbomberguy." and my 2nd thought was "lol clawshrimpy is going to be triggered by this being a 'dogwhistle'"

Well, he is talking about that "In a Minute" series of Disney Films.

I refuse to watch the video, so what does she say in her latest Glass of Water?
to sum it up in a sentence "Little Witch Academia would have been better as a comedy. The things anime does well they don't do enough and cater to people I don't like." padded out with complaining about the fetishisation of women in anime and common tropes being common in anime storytelling. Standard fair at this point

Hey, can we talk about how she's a violent little shit? Like her solution to everything usually involves physical violence of some kind. She even made a whole video dismissing the saying "violence begets more violence." The reason we say that is because we don't want people just going at each other like troops of wild chimpanzees

Oh boy, this is probably Jerry's worst video he ever made. So, here's a long sperg on the video.

The entire thesis of this video is that LWA actions and subsequently most anime action scenes are bad, will age horribly somehow, and all because they don't have the budget at all for it. This is all for the main point that anime's limited animation is only good to make comedies and not action (he said drama as well, but we'll mostly focus on action). Yes folks, Jerry is saying that LWA and anime in general are only good in comedy and not action. So, let's point out how retarded Jerry is again.

"Anime action scenes are bad"

Now anyone who've seen at least 10 anime can blatantly point out how wrong this is. If anime made something clear, is that they love action and are damn good at it. I mean look at this scene from OPM, with an average budget. This gets more stupid when you realize that Jerry criteria of "good action" is that it's grounded and like the Star Wars Prequels. Cause the only action scenes he compares LWA fantastical action are grounded. Which completely misses the point of fantastical action, since it's not supposed to be grounded. It's at this point that Jerry thinking of himself as an actual critic is a bad joke that went too far, since he literally can't fathom anything that's not to his liking, so he denounces it as bad without knowing what's he's talking. Of course, wanking the prequels fight as good (there not) and using that as some basis for good fight scenes, even though the LWA fight scenes are fundamentally different from the prequels and grounded action. He even says that their actions scenes are full of effects, when there all hand drawn. Hell, just look at this scene from LWA, that shows actual care to how the characters move in tandem with their powers. But no, it's somehow floaty and dragon ball lasers somehow. He shows this scene in the video too and the fact none of comments or him realize this is baffling.

Edit: I've now realized that LWA does have grounded action scene, even though most of Jerry's video is talking about it's fantastical action mostly. But these grounded scenes are few and far between to LWA mostly fantastical ones. But for the sake of comparison, here's the scene in question. Which for anyone without brain damage, is still a good action scene. The camera is focus on the combatants, the way they move and fight shows their position in the fight, and with snappy cuts/ fluid animation, makes this an outstanding actions scenes. Can someone please tell me how Jerry somehow saw this and call it bad?!

"They'll age horribly"

This point just baffles me because he gives no examples or how this is even possible. He says that Card Captor Sakura aged like milk, when its animation is better than all of today's western animation and has more artistry to it. Like please tell me how scenes like this, this, or this as anything but perfectly animated. It's like some kid saying that movies that are in black and white are old, so therefore bad. He then goes on to say that Hamtaro somehow aged better, which he gives no explanation other than it was a comedy, which doesn't determine an anime animation at all. I can't say anything else because Jerry's assertion is without any evidence and are just too shallow to say any more. Oh, and he mentions this is the reason action cartoons died off, because there harder to animate and cost too much. Never mind the fact that companies kept on treating their actions shows awfully and without care, so their sales were awful. The exception was Avatar: the last airbender, since Nick actually gave a damn and had good rating for a drama fueled action series. Thus, causing an industry wisdom that making Slice of life shows and comedies is better, since there's not that much of investment for it and can be dealt with in any way. While action shows thrive with care from there studios, which is why 80's action cartoons thrives so much. The studios made the effort to make their audience watch it.

"They don't have the budget"

It's at this point that Jerry shows absolutely no knowledge of the animation industry at all. Anime while not nearly having that much budget as the likes of animation studios in the west, shows that it's all about the people who work on these shows that's important. No other anime shows this than One Punch Man. One of the best action animated shows, with a budget that's average in anime standard. And there's a reason why, because the director called out skilled animators for this series. Because no amount of money will stop the fact that having bad animators will give bad animations and having good ones will give the opposite. This is the exact same thing in American cartoons as well. If you want a more in depth look on this, just go here (how budget have no actual bearing on a studio's animation quality) and here (how OPM looks so good with its budget). This video is just a man making things up for his lack of actual understanding on animation, its industry, and how it works.

"Conclusion"

His rambling on anime and its use of animation for comedy is surprisingly right, but all in the awful attempt of denouncing action animation. Keeps on saying that most anime are either Sailor moon or DBZ clones, literally admitting of using two animes to paint an entire medium with thousands under it belt right now. Then saying that High Guardian Spice is a comedy (With no actual sources to back this up, since the show never tells us what it is) and that it was made to bring in new people. So, a show for an anime streaming site that look like a cartoon, which got a lot of flak from anime fans for not giving us anything of substance to care about in this series and hasn't made anyone excited because they have no trailer to see what the series is about, will supposedly bring in a new batch of viewers? This makes as much sense as his actual thought process. So that's basically it and sorry for the sperg, but this was really his worst video yet. I wasted my time so no one else would.

Your sacrifice will be recorded in the Farm's legacy. Holy shit, I don't think I'd be able to sit through that without facepalming hard enough to give myself a shiner.

"Anime action scenes are bad! They need to be more like Star Wars! Haven't you seen the Obi-Wan vs Anakin fight??"

Okay, yeah, no. Jerry, stop.

I'll keep this as brief as I can using one of the best fights from Naruto as an example.

Gaara vs. Rock Lee

Watch it if you haven't. It's a great fight.

Why this fight is brilliant:
Gaara was seen as this unstoppable force of nature, especially by the likes of Shino (who was the only person left in the balcony who had seen what Gaara was capable of), and Kankuro, Temari, and Baki, who personally were all aware of Gaara's bloodlust and his invincibility, not to mention he was a Jinchuriki, holding the One-Tail inside of him. Rock Lee was somebody who was unable to use ninjutsu or genjutsu and wanted to become a "splended ninja", so his sensei, Guy (or Gai whatever lol) took him under his wing and started training him himself, and they became so close that Lee even took Guy's likeness. Guy had taught him part of a forbidden technique created by his own father (5 of the 8 Gates), one that, if overused, could lead to death, just to help in Lee's dream to become a great ninja. This earns Guy the scorn of Kakashi later on during the fight, who knows the implications of using that technique, because evidently, it's absolutely irresponsible to give that power to someone so young.

There's all of that resting on the fight, and we haven't even gotten to the fight yet.

Lee, of course, realizes that he can't easily touch Gaara because of Gaara's extremely responsive shield, so Lee drops the weights on his legs, and becomes much faster, so much so, that he actually hits Gaara. The untouchable, unstoppable force of nature felt his first bit of pain during that fight because his sand shield couldn't keep up with Lee's speed. The speed, mind you, that he worked his ass off to attain (among other things) in a merely a year. He attacks Gaara with what appears to be his ultimate attack (Primary Lotus), until, long story short, Gaara's sand shield catches up with them and protects Gaara from the impact. After being knocked around for a while by Gaara's sand, Lee appears to recover from his apparent worn-out state, and activates the technique that Guy taught him - the 8 gates. Specifically, he opens the 3rd gate, and then proceeds to knock Gaara around the stadium in an effort to cause him to yield, subsequently opening the rest of the gates that he knows how to open, all while his body is tearing itself apart from the fatigue of the technique. Eventually, Lee delivers the final blow, but Gaara's sand shield protected him again. Lee, too tired to evade, watches helplessly as Gaara's sand covers his left arm and leg. Gaara uses Sand Burial and crushes Lee's arm and leg bones. Obviously, Lee lost consciousness from the pain. Gaara attempted to cover Lee with more sand, to finish him off, but Guy jumps in and blocks the sand. Gaara sees this, and asks why Guy does this, to which he replies, telling Gaara that Lee is precious to him, a sentiment that Gaara is incapable of understanding, due to his own personal circumstances. After Guy does this, Lee suddenly stands up, and assumes his fighting stance. Guy starts to tell him that the fight is over, but the kicker here is that Lee isn't even conscious. The only reason he was able to subconsciously stand after having the bones in his arm and leg shattered, blood dripping from both, fatigued from using a technique that practically tore his body apart (on the inside, mind you, a bunch of rest and he'd be right as rain) was because of his will to fight, his will to strive to be better, his desire to become a ninja, his unwillingness to quit.

And let's go just a little bit further. Even while in the hospital, Lee continued to train, despite the worry sent his way from all of his peers. When the woman who was renowned as the best medical ninja in the world told him that his wounds were too great, that he would never become a ninja again, he didn't let that get him down. He bounced back. He became a real ninja again, despite wounds that should have rendered him crippled or disabled for the rest of his life. And let me just say that that's better than any Star Wars action scene out there.

Edit: I made a bit of a mistake. That medical ninja (Tsunade), while she does tell Lee that he could never become a ninja again, she also told him that there was a surgical procedure that he could undertake that would essentially fix him, although there was a 50% chance of success, with the other 50% potentially leading to his death. He took it and bounced back.

It's not always about the fight. It's not always about exchanging punches or swinging swords. Lee wasn't some all-powerful flick-of-a-finger force of nature, and the fight showed that Gaara wasn't, either, that's why Kakashi trained Sasuke (who was fighting Gaara later on) in Taijutsu and taught him the Chidori - to exploit Gaara's newfound weakness. Sometimes you have to read between the lines, examine the nuance, look at the bigger picture, realize the implications.

I thought that was something you were good at, Jerry, considering how much you tout your intellectualism, your ability to see nuance, your specific tastes in media, but then I remembered, you're too fucking lazy to do a Google search and see that there's a distinction between the costumes of two superheroes. Why should I, nay, anyone expect you to actually watch the things you critique?

And yes, this was me being brief. Naruto is a long series with tons of fights.

Honestly, the dumbest part of the whole video is the 'budget' thing. Isn't one of the fundamental differences between western animation and anime is that Anime tends to put more of their budget towards exorbitant action sequences, and when the characters aren't fighting the animation is usually 'worse' since the characters will rarely move and only flap their mouths open?

It's almost like Jerry's entire knowledge of anime is limited to a shitty dub he watched as a kid or something.
