2. Giving people a say in their lives. How do you do that? By giving their voices a chance to be heard and wishes followed. Emphasis on CHANCE. People will accept "I lost today" if they honestly believe "I might win tomorrow."

It's sleazy and intellectually dishonest (par for the course for Bob), but I don't think "hypocritical" is quite right. Bob projects harder than an IMAX, has little-to-no empathy for people he's never met, and thinks the worst of anyone who disagrees with him. So it's not surprising that he, a critic whose agenda drives every opinion and analysis he utters (when not driven by childhood nostalgia), assumes that everyone is merely trying to advance an agenda rather than offer honest critiques of a work.
