this really can't work, can it? speaking as someone with a fucked head the last thing that would help me with not wanting to ever leave the house is... not leaving the house to go to something as simple as a therapy session.

you may as well just use reddit or do your own research or something, those at least don't cost money and are probably just as effective (aka not very)

maybe it's good as a stepping stone if you're mega agoraphobic or something (:optimistic:) but again, i doubt it

I've seen some insurance companies that do offer in-home (via Skype etc.) counseling to people who are really bad such as agoraphobics and extremely depressed people. But yeah, they always say some of the best ways to combat that stuff is to go outside.

Better off with a suicide hotline.

Looking into the founders Linked in I found that he used to to work for two online marketing companies one of which he was working for at the time he founded Better Help this was also the time he posted on his twitter about using Google glass. This suggests to me while he was working for online marketing he was approached by google about a service that would be used to collect Data on people with depression and him working in the advertising industry would have the experience and knowledge necessary to collect the correct data for google and possibly be offered a job at google after he was done. Notice as well that he also comments about google glass the same year he founds Better Help suggesting google gave a tour to wow him as a part of their sale pitch to have him collect data for them. Likely he would collect data for google and then be offered a job there. This situation seems very similar to the candid situation

I'd like to point out that this "licensed therapist" is participating in diagnosing someone from afar, something you are NEVER SUPPOSED TO DO in mental healthcare. I'm pretty sure a non psychologist/psychiatrist isn't even qualified to diagnose someone. Not sure how that red flag wasn't caught right off the bat.
There's a difference between diagnosis speculation for entertainment purposes and legitimately attempting to diagnose someone in an effort to treat them.

I just think it's dumb to make that specific criticism (when she said "I don't know, I'd have to sit down with him") instead of mentioning how inexorably linked she seems to be to this scam. That seems way more important.

Yeah, looking at this shit these people would probably be better of wading through the legions of horny basement dwellers on omegle until they found one decent person they can talk to if they want help without leaving the computer. Really fucking depressing that these shitheels are doing this, but in a world where alternative cancer treatment centers that pretty much amount to hippies telling you to gargle boiled goat feces bleed desperate people dry, can't really say I'm all that surprised unfortunately. Though I will say that it's actually pretty rad that so many people are coming out to bring this bullshit to light. Always good to see people looking out for their fellow man.

I suspect they will have youtubers making videos trying to discredit criticism similar to the candid situation a interesting thing to see is compare the words the youtubers use with each other and also what words they use specifically for example if they compare people making criticisms to Sociopaths we know Kati Morton or Shane Dawson are involved more heavily in the companies than simple sponsorship

Boogie already looking to find a way to make himself out as the victim here.

It's been theorized earlier in this thread, but I do think this could be a likely scenario. BetterHelp might be giving top priority and quality care only to popular youtubers and fucking over the rest of their customers. Let's face it, the youtubers aren't going to be checking the feedback for their fans on their sponsors, so I do think they believe that if they had great service the rest of the fans must have too.

Another thing that irks me is that while I do believe at least some of them are in on it, I am very skeptical on DeFranco and especially Thoughty2 doing something like this. DeFranco might be smug, but I don't think he would scam people, and Thoughty2 definitely doesn't seem like a guy who would either. Rate me :optimistic:, but I do think this could just be a case of pure ignorance for them.

And this is why you never use online medical services (outside of tele-calls with a PCP.) Other online medical companies like Hims use doctors that are barely hanging onto their license and don't care about their patients. At the very least, most of these companies require recent medical data verified by face-to-face doctors.

As a medical professional, this is disgusting behavior and deserves immediate de-licensing. Every doctor/therapist/medical provider swears an oath to give the best help possible and these people make the rest of us look bad.

If you go and look about Better Helps TOS you can see that they operate under the state of Delawares legal code this serves two purposes Delaware has less liability than many other states and Online health providers have basically no restrictions put upon them meaning that they can have their "Counselors" not be registered and in fact it says that they don't have to be registered in their TOS and they won't check for it
