Social Justice Warriors - Now With Less Feminism Sperging

I think there's some degree of validity in the sociological definition...in the context of institutionalized oppression. It doesn't apply to individual bigotry, though, and it's total bullshit that people claim it does. (And yeah, "reverse racism" is a stupid concept.)

The way I see it (and I apologize if any of this is unclear or worded poorly), there's institutionalized racism and there's individual racism. An English-speaking white person in the US wouldn't really experience institutionalized racism (though this wasn't always true--for instance, there was a LOT of bigotry against the Irish in the 19th century, up until the early 20th century if I recall correctly), but they could still be the victim of individual racism. In other words, they wouldn't have to deal with the way cards are kind of stacked against non-whites in this country, but if someone told them "white people are scum" or what have you, it'd still be racism, just not at the institutional level.

Wow I am not wording this right but I hope that makes sense.

Nothing against you, I just hate the idea that the definition is "legitimate" just because people who get paid to study whining choose to make up definitions. I wasn't disagreeing with you, just commenting on your point.

Agreed, it's kind of amazing how big a part resentment plays in a lot of university courses.

Honestly, that's one of the less ridiculous posts on that blog, all things considered--at least their pronouns are valid pronouns.

This, on the other hand...

Also, I don't know if anyone has linked to it in this thread yet, but...mogai-archive. It exists, and while I find a lot of it vaguely upsetting as An Actual Queer Person TM, it's also fucking hilarious, because you have gems like these:

To be completely fair, mogai-archive is submission-based so some of these might be jokes...but a lot of these people do seem serious.

Honestly, part of my issue with shit like mogai-archive is that it makes actual queer people (particularly trans people) look like idiots, and makes their identities seem less valid. Same reason I always hated the "I HAVE ASPERGER'S SO I CAN'T HELP BEING A PIECE OF TRASH" argument that a lot of lolcows use--it's taking an actual thing and turning it into a joke. :/

The existence of "autisgender" offends me.

I'm being straight up, autismgender and esperancegirl can go fuck themselves.

I just read an article about some 21 year old New York hipster chick going around vandalizing national parks with acrylic paint, claiming it's "art," and posting it on instagram, and getting all pissed off and huffy and accusing people of "mansplaining" when they called her out on it because "she's a feminist."
To be fair, most hipsters are incapable of communicating with normal people. The best way to get through the language barrier is to take something heavy and strike them on the head.

"Autistic and proud"

"Autism is a fucking label."

Que my brain repeating these two phrases over and over, trying desperately to make them gel and just failing completely.

doublethink

The power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, an accepting both of them.

Plus the fact that they have a variety of things that could also fall under the heading of "labels" in their description...

That, and there's nothing inherently wrong with labels, what the fuck.

Ok so I have supposedly very severe ADHD that was diagnosed as a child. I feel that it's merely an attribute.. somewhere that I sit on a scale we all sit on but I'm far off to one side. There is good and bad with it but society is tuned for people closer to the middle. Because it implied there was something wrong with me it has caused me no end of trouble... all through school I was in classrooms for slow kids and behavior problems. I missed out on a lot of schooling i even got removed from honors classes because parents were angry their kids were getting taken out but the weird sped stayed, also I became a serious discipline problem like most of my peers and got sent off to the county fuckup school. As an adult it complicated my military life and background checks considerably.
Ironically most of my friends from county shithead school all went on to become productive citizens with above average income after they got away from all the 'help' while we were there most of us were dangerously close or already in the legal system. It seemed like there was just no way out, it was scary as shit. That's the danger of labels.

Also why I'm so sympathetic to jace's issues. Literally everyone who could help him is as fucktarded as he is who knows how much he might improve away from gail and on his meds.

I have an irl SJW encounter story. I didn't post this before because it happened to my friend, not me, and she was really upset about it while it was happening, but I think she's probably moved on by now, and anyway I doubt anyone involved will read this.

My friend, E., leased an apartment with her two friends S. and M. S. is the SJW. Creepily enough, S. was actually older than the others: she's almost 30 now. S. is from a middle class background but claims her parents were highly abusive and regards herself as oppressed and a survivor. (E. doubts the veracity of this, but there's really no way to prove it one way or the other.) S. couldn't have afforded an apartment if left to her own devices, even though she was definitely at an age where most people are settling down: she was a journalist and worked part-time and for very low pay at a TV station she hated. She refused to get a different job because she had this idea in her head that she was "infiltrating" (her word) the TV station and would gradually get it to broadcast nothing but social justice stuffz. The infiltration was not going very well, and everything that happened at the station triggered her and caused her to come home and cry on the couch and bitch to E. and M. about how horrible the world was. She was especially triggered when the world cup was on because it made all of her coworkers talk about sports, which caused the atmosphere to be too sports bar-like and male-dominated for her.

S. would never shut up about her PTSD and her triggers, but in true SJW fashion, didn't really care about anyone else's mental health issues. E. has struggled with depression for a while, and whenever she said something that indicated she was depressed, S. would get angry with her and accuse her of not handling her illness correctly. One of S.'s friends told E. to kill herself, and when E. confronted S. about it, S. defended him and accused E. of faking her depression. (I know this to be untrue, and know that E. once rented an apartment on her own so that if she killed herself there wouldn't be roommates around to find her body.)

Matters came to a head when S. decided to move her homeless friend D. into to the apartment. D. was definitely mentally ill and didn't interact much with either M. or E., both of whom basically elected to ignore him. E. and M. wanted S. to give them a date by which D. would be out of the apartment, which she flatly refused to do. (D. was not paying any rent, btw.) Meanwhile, S. became enraged with both E. and M. for not becoming besties with D. She said that because D. had been dealt a rough hand in life, E. and M. were morally obligated to "help him turn his life around." When the lease was up, neither E. nor M. wanted to keep living with S. (who, remember, couldn't afford a place on her own). S. began screaming at everyone and went so around the bend that even D. thought she was psycho and began to sympathize with the other two.

The lease expired a couple of months ago, so I assume S. is either homeless or found some other people to take her in.

Tell me, just how do these SJWs come to the conclusion that a fictional character is this or that when there's nothing in the source material that would support them? I.e. Kat issue from The Hunger Games must be trans!

Straw grasping. SJWs have turned it into an art.

This is from a couple of weeks ago, it's a long but pretty interesting story of an author meeting one of her most vociferous critics. It's been shared like 18k times with 900 comments probably because the batty SJW critic makes exactly these sorts of claims about fictional characters and it just adds to the funhouse-mirror aspect of the entire dialogue between the author and her critic, "Blythe":

Curious to see if Blythe had read my book, I clicked from her Twitter through her blog and her Goodreads page. She had given it one star. “Meh,” I thought. I scrolled down her review.

“Fuck this,” it said. “I think this book is awfully written and offensive; its execution in regards to all aspects is horrible and honestly, nonexistent.”

Blythe went on to warn other readers that my characters were rape apologists and slut-shamers. She accused my book of mocking everything from domestic abuse to PTSD. “I can say with utmost certainty that this is one of the worst books I’ve read this year,” she said, “maybe my life.”

Other commenters joined in to say they’d been thinking of reading my book, but now wouldn’t. Or they’d liked it, but could see where Blythe was coming from, and would reduce their ratings.

“Rape is brushed off as if it is nothing,” Blythe explained to one commenter. “PTSD is referred to insensitively; domestic abuse is the punch line of a joke, as is mental illness.”

“But there isn’t rape in my book,” I thought. I racked my brain, trying to see where I had gone wrong. I wished I could magically transform all the copies being printed with a quick swish of my little red pen. (“Not to make fun of PTSD, or anything,” I might add to one character’s comment. “Because that would be wrong.”)

It's a phenomenon seen in some conspiracy theorists. There was a study done and apparently those who are likely to, for example, believe Princess Diana was not killed in the accident are also just as likely to simultaneously accept that she was killed by order of the queen or some other official figure. As long as it goes against the official story or the generally accepted "facts", they don't care. As long as they're special little snowflakes and true skeptics of what the sheeple believe. Cognitive dissonance is amazing sometimes. More research should go into these little subcultures

It started with Suey Park, the SJW movement is going to eat itself alive. Much like figures such as Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are almost toxic to real issues and events that need evaluating, SJW's are getting drowned out by their own over indulgence. It started when academic and medical terms such as "privileged" or "trigger" hit the mainstream. I don't think many people are going to deny things like racism and sexism are still a problem, however because of the nature of the internet, any voice can be heard, which can be a good thing....but their are many loud and stupid voices out there, and they tend to/do drown out the calm reasonable ones. At some point it's going to hit critical mass where the vocal minority who identify as 14 different pronouns are going to ultimately drown out the voices that have reasonable points and the whole movement will wither.
