Why is he still around? I know he's some kind of protected class, but surely that has limits? Anyone else would've been banned many times over. There has to come a point where all the staff are sick of his bullshit. He must have dirt on the rest of the mods, it's the only explanation I can think of.

He keeps the mods supplied with reports (everyone who replies to him). He also dances like a little monkey to their tune and is generally amusing. once the fun and novelty wear off he'll be discarded like Lime, Nokterian and Cream before him.

Calling it Tumblr level is generous, there are probably Twitter rants that are longer.
It's the bog standard "Let's judge an artist of the past by comparing them to modern politics" type nonsense. It feels like the author just heard about Lovecraft, and in the same conversation was told he was a racist and rushed to write an article on it.
I'd call it a thinly veiled advertisement for SOMA, but that implies the presence of a veil. Trying to connect the 2 is dumb. Lovecraft has cosmic, unknowable horror and insanity as it's main themes. SOMA is about putting human personalities into robot bodies. What's great is they imply anything inspired by or similar to Lovecraft is also racist. The people that made SOMA made Amnesia, a Lovecraft inspired game.
But this is ResetEra, they are likely torn between "giving racists a platform" and "criticising game journalism".

It was. Niggerman was a surprisingly acceptable name for a black-coated pet back in the day; I guess it was a bit like calling a cat "Blackie" or "Smokey" today.
EDIT: To make a more substantial contribution to the thread: Lovecraft's position on racism evolved as he grew older, and late in his life he wrote personal letters regretting some of his earlier work for its racist themes (which themselves were fueled by his paranoid fear of the world outside of urban Rhode Island). If he hadn't died fairly young, I suspect he would have become part of the Civil Rights movement. His later novels, At the Mountains of Madness and The Shadow Out of Time, can even be seen as a partial repudiation of his earlier works; the Elder Things and the Great Race in those works are alien, but portrayed as equal to man in virtue and temperament, as opposed to wholly malevolent. But of course, NeoGAF would prefer to have a mentally-ill author be defined by his worst works than allow for any shade of moral complexity.

I'd also suggest that most of his work was invoking xenophobia. I wouldn't necessarily assume an author was actually afraid of immigrants just because his horror stories play on that.
