Trashfire The BetterHelp, CreatorHealth, InfluenceLogic Rabbit Hole - Candid 2.0, brought to you by Joel Robbinson

Holy shit, quite a few ASMRtists in that list.
An ASMRtist I follow on YouTube recently did a video about mental health resources and I was terrified that she'd be shilling BetterHelp but in fact she did a whole segment about how online therapy is shady as shit and ought to be avoided.
Why do so many people sell their souls so cheaply? Especially people like Philip DickSucko who make pretty good money on YouTube and Patreon, yet decide that they need to shill exploitative shit for even more.

The Quartering especially had some lame fucking excuses. "People are just jealous that he's making money!" despite the fact that literally nobody gives half a flying fuck that someone makes money. Shit, most YouTubers make money on Patreon these days and I don't see anybody sperging about that. No, people are just jealous, it couldn't be that people are actually legitimately pissed off at already well-to-do E-celebs people taking advantage of the mentally ill.
"Philip has employees to worry about!" As if this is somehow justification to exploit people's mental illnesses.

EDIT: Fuck, 2 of my favorite ASMRtists are on this list. God fucking damnit.

ASMR people do seem to have a lot of depressed/anxious people among their audience, so they are the perfect set up for a scam involving mental help.

The only ASMR I need is Funky Kong giving me a ride home from the airport.

I don't need anything else. Also, Funky Kong is caring and supportive, unlike some BetterHelp therapists.

I think my favorite thing about all of this is that 326 people are caught shilling for this company but DSP was too scummy for even these guys to want to work with.

They would have to be very, very foolish to reach out to DSP. He has the holy trinity of a) previously mocking mental health, b) breaking advertising regulations and c) badmouthing sponsors that drop him.
Plus, he has an army of autists that scrutinise everything he says or does. This would have come to light much sooner if DSP had started babbling about BetterHelp.

Most YouTubers see their fans as purely a source of income rather than actual people. It's harder to bond with your audience since they're really just pseudonyms on a screen polluting the comments section, so developing any sort of empathy for them is almost impossible. It's the same reason McDonalds doesn't give a rat's ass whether or not you die tomorrow. That being said, McDonalds also isn't trying to sell you a scam because they've got marketing professionals that understand this sort of shit is a PR nightmare with the short-term gain falling behind viciously to the long-term. YouTubers are generally some idiot with a camera, so any burst of $$$ gets them hard whether it involves throwing their audience under the bus or not.

Something something my opinion.

Well yeah, Memology tore this open without Dave even being involved.

I'm just saying, it's a testimony to exactly how scummy and toxic DSP is, he can't even get in on the scams.

I doubt that these people gave any more thought to shilling BetterHelp than they did for anything else. Although, I can imagine why people who make ASMR would appreciate having something to throw at the sadbrains who are constantly writing them and saying "I was going to kill myself but your video where you dress up like a snorlax and tickle a 3D microphone with a dildo for two hours gave me hope"

So the one thing he fucked up and told the truth about, he is now backpedaling on.

Right now he needs to show how much money he gets on patreon and show his accounting records and the such if he wants to save face if he is telling the truth in that video, but he won't because he isn't telling the truth.

This whole idea of a "sectioned off budget" is ridiculous.

Also telling is that he'd never told his audience anything about this "media platform" or whatever he's trying to build. It sounds like he wants to become an ad agency to me, and you know what those guys are good at?

Lying.

Edit: Also, I think it's interesting to think about how this is a great example of the danger of "influencer advertising" cause it's easy, relatively cheap and pretty effective.

The downside is that your business can be ruined by a handful of videos by the right person.

I personally find that "JoJo Character attempts to enter your home" is pretty good. Also, I couldn't see if Last Podcast on the Left did a sponsorship with BetterHelp, so I most likely remembered wrong.

It is funny how Felix in his video brought up the whole I got 10% of an Amazon sponsore, and how he got shit over that. How is it possible that all of these youtubers went into this, said wait a moment I get more then 50% of the money somebody pays and just went along with it without looking into it? GarenFUCKINGty it that a shit ton of them are gonna go back on this and just say: "Hey, I knew nothing about this. It was somebody else, I don't look up who you sponsore, you can't expect me to look up everyone I sponsore." I don't think there are so many idiots on youtubed to go with this. This was equivelent to it coming out that most of them were dealing heroine to teenagers and nobody fucking said to the person who was about to sponsore them: "Bitch, go fuck yourself. No way I'll earn that kind of money for a shout out. Get bent."

I listen to those guys quite a bit and I'm fairly positive they've never made any sponsorship for BetterHelp. They're far too conspiratorial to go for the concept, I feel, and the most outlandish thing they've ever shilled was To Hunt a Killer. Considering most people who listen to them are (presumably) adults, I doubt it would've taken off even if BetterHelp was legit. An online therapist would raise way too many eyebrows in that audience.

I just think many people are judgmental of him for some reason, maybe because of his popularity and growth? Either way some people just don't seem to look into this or have the proper judgement.. like, at all. It's sad really, this should feel like a bigger outrage than it is right now considering all the people who sponsored it, if even the biggest youtuber covers it honestly.

To be fair, I don't think many adults know much about current Felix beyond his scarecam days, myself included. So from my perspective, before reading this thread, I still thought PewDiePie was still shrieking about barrels and plowing through shitty horror games. If I didn't know from this thread, I probably wouldn't have cared about his latest antics. To have the world's biggest Let's Player telling you that the internet Jon Stewart is running a scam isn't exactly something you'd stop for. Even then, the "biggest YouTuber" doesn't mean much to the average person who doesn't give a shit about YouTube.

I still stand by a lot of these people not knowing what actual therapy is, and BetterHelp doesn't show as a red flag even before combing through the magical shrinking TOS.
