I'm sure some other people are behind this idea(why?), but isn't it strange two guys who have had a recent dip in their Youtube careers are pitching to bring back a movement that brought them attention and success. Could this get anymore transparent?

I mean that's 100% why this is happening. They're fucked and they know their career on youtube is ruined so they're out for one last bash.

Sargon's "career" (fuck I hate using that word to describe someone sperging at a camera about stupid shit on Youtube) might survive. He's acted fucking stupid, but not nearly as stupid and outright malicious as boulderboy. At least he hasn't flagged anybody... that we know of anyway.

So many things here.

1. I don't know what was said in the Bannon/Sargon meeting, but I doubt the former Breitbart boss would even hint that anything good would come from Trump tweeting #GamerGate. If anything, he probably still remembers how Milo was tied to it and how his tenure at Breitbart ended.

2. "Muh PR" is how GamerGate failed. They tried to take the route cuckservative route of "Oh no guys, we're not the monsters the media makes us out to be. We just want you to like us." They might have succeeded if they tried to be funny and entertaining. But in the end, they would up being the Jeb Bush of consumer revolts.

3. The only people who want Gamergate back are the people who made money off of it. There's a reason why people like John Flynt and Anita Sarkeesian treat receiving "mean tweets" and criticisms like it somehow facilitated the rise of Orange Hitler. It's because they miss the days where they could whore themselves out for Patreon money. Matt and Sargon are playing the wrong game if they think they'll get anything good from the resurrection of GamerGate. The most Matt can expect from this is to descend into Kurt Eichenwald levels of insanity when Tucker Carlson roasts his ass on the air.

4. Nothing Matt ever does will make people forget that he flagged videos for simply criticizing him. Even if Matt and Sargon manage to reanimate GamerGate's withered and rotting corpse, they and the anti people will only be two sides of the same shitty Venezuelan coin that's absolutely worthless to anyone who isn't a blind fool.

But she was able to get the book onto the store shelves (and straight into the bargain bin), was able to some sweet Kickstarter moneys and got a neato trip in Japan, among other things. All while Matt is still stuck at gathering rocks at the riverside like a really bad run of Harvest Moon or Stardew Valley.

So I think it is fair to say she has won.

You're certainly right in that context, but I'll note that the one sentence quoted is supplementary to the rest of the post. Not every topic on every platform or medium on the internet is equally as pointless, and Matt is to me. He is boring, has been, will be. The only thing that keeps the topic interesting to me is how many people rally around it.

I guess I just miss the appeal. I'm unsure. But whatever point it is that I don't see in this, I hope you at least have fun with it.
