Why does Tumblr have an obsession with vitiligo?

My thought is that someone here liked Kiki's Delivery Service a little too much

Besides the fact that every single character looks like they run an alt-fashion blog and more than half having Steven Universe lips, the art isn't too egregious. A lot of forced diversity but the style is palateable and they don't make everyone excessively ugly.

Edit: apparently Mimi (the green haired girl) used to be white but they decided that wasn't diverse enough so they dumped on the shoe polish.

I swear to god it feels like if you see one lgbt tumblr webcomic you've seen all of them. This one is a bit unique cause it seems it started with a mediocre but cute animesque style but then it was apparently rebooted (?) into a "what do you mean it's not steven universe" style by someone else? I'm not really sure.

The artstyle change makes such a huge shift in perCeption*. It's technically better due to shading, background and details but the original is more feminine and expressive, looks like a teenage crushing on a much older woman which makes it a lot more interesting (IMO).

The new one looks like some overweigt chick flabergasted at the sight of some weird guy her age. Also she has the same face in every panel.

ugh at first I guess it was kinda cute but it's sort of trash I read all the panels posted and honestly it could use some work like her magical girl clothes magically appearing out of no where it's obviously it's trying to be a manga it reads left to right but what I hate the most is the character designs for the main characters and background characters there just so UGLY to me it's like they didn't put any effort into character design and just added dark skin or weird colorful hair or some sort of physical disability/scars I know they're just background character's but at least make it look appealing to the eye.
What is with SJW artists thinking
Ugly = Beautiful/Diverse

Beautiful = Problematic/Sexist

I tried to search more on that webcomic but it's called "Rainbow Comic", it's so generic that 90% of my search results were some kind of color book for children. But then i found it on Tapas, same place that hosted that that life and death yaoibois comic.

I tried to searc for lgbt comics for content, here are some i found:

First: The Angry Gays. https://tapas.io/series/AngryGays

Aww yeeaa the perfect super hero group, The Angry Gays!

tumblr_peqtldKySo1ulvzt2o2_r1_1280.png

i think they're fighting or something i dunno it looks so bad and static. Also everyone i saw was black.

This one looks pretty good artwise, it's looks cartoony and fun to watch. Only problem is that this is (apparently???) a dead serious comic about a trans sheriff living in the border between usa and mexico using hormone drugs to avoid prejudice until he falls in love with a bandit. This is the first page btw.

The disconnect between serious gender commentary and very well done cartoony art is one of the weirdest i ever seen. btw the banner on the website is two ugly cowboys licking each other surrounded by what looks like dick shaped cactus so i dont know how much nsfw it might be...

There's more old pictures, that's interesting how you can clearly see the "before tumblr" and "after tumblr".

They turn to "cute animu girls couple" to Green haired girl being black and pink haired girl chubby for the sake of diversity.

I thought you were BSing about the trans thing but jesus you were right

I'm fairly sure no amount of Test is gonna let a woman grow out a full beard. 'Assumed I was a girl because I was born a biological woman'. This comic is fucking bizarre. It's well drawn but the pacing and the story makes zero sense.

Aren't you all always preaching how you wouldn't mind gays and tranny characters if they were people's ocs and not fan art and now that someone has gone and done their own characters instead of changing existing ones you all still get pissed off? Lol

Giving criticism and being confused over the execution of a comic =/= being pissed off.

That trans cowboy comic is just odd.

I thought they were Rose, Lapis and Amethyst but apparently it's not a human au for Steven Universe.

I thought the same thing.

I genuinely don't think people like this are capable of creating something new. They can only create imitations of things they've seen. The art style and character design is obviously influenced by Steven Universe and shitty Tumblr Art. The premise and romance so far are playing out exactly like any generic anime. It's as if they're unable to form ideas of their own accord.

Holy shit, I recognize that art. The artist was obsessed with Rick and Morty and Gravity Falls a few years back, specfically Rick and this side character that they always insisted had to be a trans man and, sure enough, made fanart of. They might've even done crossover fanart shipping Rick and this guy together, but I can't say for sure.

Either way after briefly skimming this it looks like they may have literally repurposed their old crossover fanfiction by changing the names around. The main character even looks like the young version of the character.

Okay, so this doesn’t really matter but it’s always been a personal pet peeve of mine. There’s a difference between putting some modern sensibilities into a historical setting and just straight up writing a modern story that has a historical coat of paint for some reason. I’m pretty sure people during the 1800s wouldn’t say their parents “assumed” their gender at birth or would use the word “transition” in the context of gender. Let’s not get into the fact that the main character was watching tv at the beginning. The dialogue in this comic just seems “modern”, and not in a good way. Maybe it’s just me, but it’s a bit immersion breaking.

Tumblr is pretty notorious for this, as is anyone who only appreciates the surface level of a particular era. I've seen 1950s AUs or comics that are all about ~*~uwu lesbianz~*~ but they will almost never include the problematic areas of it beyond a strawman. They sanitize history because they refuse to have anything bad happen to their characters or they only like it for the aesthetics and can't be bothered to research it.
