No one has mentioned the hordes of AUs it spawned in reaction to Adam's death?

Here's from the SJW Art and Extremes thread:

Don't worry, I'm on it.
As quoted from this Reddit post, it summarizes it pretty well:

"A bunch of people in the vld community on twitter + tumblr decided that they really didnt like voltron: legendary defender and that keith/lance should be canon. instead of moving on with their lives and accepting the show for what it is and not an extremely idealized version of it, they decided that the best course of action should be to give a fanon reboot to voltron where everyone is super queer and klance is canon1. akira comes from keiths name in the japanese original, and leandro comes from a popular headcanon about that being lance's real cuban name. together, they are leakira. ppl are already talking about starting a kickstarter for it, too. the people who started this aren't treating it as an alternate universe of VLD but as a complete reboot of voltron."

List of AUs I'm aware of:
Obviously none of these are having kickstarters nor any other means of funding, but it's fun to see the salt.

Also I feel for that VA, she sounds like she's close to snapping.
To be honest, you too would be on the verge of snapping when dealing with a fandom as toxic as Voltron's.

Also, all this talk about the Adam/Shiro pairing, and none of these dumbasses are complaining that they "killed" off an entire lesbian couple?

I'm assuming this got moved into Community Watch because of the supposed Season 8 leaks?

Looks pretty fake to me, the characters in the background are frozen in place. In addition, it seems that the character Shiro is marrying is some background character from season 1. He's a reference to the character in the original.

Despite that, the salt is flowing.

The only thing worse than autistic male anime fans are autistic female fans of fake anime.

It's hilarious. Before this show, Voltron fans were just older guys who liked seeing a giant robot destroy things. Now it's mentally ill teenage girls wondering which male characters they can create porn of.

The moral of this story is to not have more than one male main character.

These whackos can ship anyone and anything in their warped little minds. If you don't want crazy fangirls shitting up your story, you'd better just keep it to one character.

Probably better not have any furniture or houseplants, either. These people are weird.

Oh god I forgot about this drama. Voltron is so annoying

A little bit after the Adam controversy a lot of Voltron fans said they were going to come over to the My Hero Academia fandom because they thought one of the popular ships (kiribaku) was gonna be canon.

The funny thing is all the hero academia weebs didn't want them to because they would "shit up" the fandom with their drama and ship wars and ofc it's a gay ship in a shonen anime so why would it become canon

It was pretty funny to see that even other yaoi fangirls can't stand Voltron fangirls

I mean, I’m still gonna laugh at you for crying over a ship, though. Seriously, it’s just a cartoon.

Hillariously rctarded as this is, this shit is no less autistic than morons like 'the Quartering' sperging out because "OMG they shrunk She-ra's tiddies!!", or whatever his beef was with that Thundercats reboot.

The number of men in their 20s and 30s who are emotionally invested in childrens cartoons is fucking bizarre. Someone needs to check what development-stunting, autism-inducing subliminal messages got snuck into 90s saturday morning cartoons, because thats just not normal.

One attractive character in your story is how the Once-let happened.

> it’s cuz i’m so sweepy guiz

Shit wouldn’t happen if you just went to bed when your mother told you too.

I just want to side-step the fan drama for a second and say how deeply impressed I am with the show's creators for making it to 7 seasons; this is quite a feat for most cartoons, especially for Voltron; the original(as far as any westerner is concerned) was a sloppy mash-up of two completely unrelated anime series designed to sell robot toys, and somehow they managed to make something memorable with these 80's leftovers, such that a proper attempt was made with Netflix and it's a really strong series overall.

You could make similar observations about My Little Pony I suppose, they had very little air time and no backstory, but somehow Lauren Faust turned it into some weird, lore-rich headspace for furries.
