Now that TLJ has been brought up, do people notice that the movie's most hardcore defenders, who will go to the ends of the earth to justify it's place as the future direction of the franchise, to the point of saying things like "plot holes don't matter", are usually white men? Like, the same group of people that are supposed to HATE the movie because of petty political alignment? And it's exclusively white men, at least in the realm of the extent of vehement defense months later. It's like these people are looking for something to tell them "it's okay that you aren't actually productive or traditional, the people that are those things don't review movies on the Internet so they don't matter!" Note how Solo was "for male feminists" in journalism articles, not "women". The movie was initially successful in theaters, but toy sales and blu-ray sales were terrible and it poisoned all future movies. Not just the current ones until Disney sells the brand off. All future movies. That's why Solo bombed, not because "people don't like him anymore" or "fatigue" or "not a numbered episode". People were just that burned.

Not comics related, but there is overlap between anti-CG people and TLJ's more insane defenders (in the literal sense of doing the same thing and expecting a different result).

Blake Northcott (while not a romance writer, is a novelist besides her comics work) has discussed a number of times all of the gatekeeping & editorial interference & content demands that have popped up in the fiction novel medium over the past few years & how ugly it’s become. While not romance novel specific, I have to assume there’s at least been SOME penetration by the NPC weirdos into that genre too. They’ve long ago gained control over SciFi/Fantasy & some of Crime Fiction & Thrillers. Not to mention YA. We shouldn't be naive enough to believe they’d entirely leave control of Romance to market forces.

My twitter feed (don't judge me, I basically was forced to join the platform at gunpoint) is mostly writers and editors, and it's a fucking hivemind. There are a handful of people who don't talk about politics at all, but 90% of my feed is hardcore SJW lecturing, virtue signalling, and shrieking. I've actually had a few retweets from Comicsgate individuals (there's few degrees of separation in the publishing world), the most recent of which was an angry, smug defense of why you should block anytime you feel like it, and fuck your customers if they make a stink about it.
