that jiggly comment made me lose my sides

" cheers is meant to support your favorite streamer not to oblige them to answer your questions"

and yet the only time he pays attention to a viewer is when they cheer. hmmmm. guess its hard to be interactive with his really fast moving chat and thousands of viewers. just so many words being said he cant keep up.

In regards to his Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay:

People criticise Phil for not having fun or being invested in a game. By doing this he is ruining the experience resulting in a boring stream.

Phil plays the game but now keeps saying, "this is really fun. I'm having fun you guys". Then he runs his horse into a tree because he is reading chat or looking at his phone and not playing the game. At least three times.

Saying that something is fun does not magically make it fun. Don't force it. He needs to play the game like no one is watching him (not a huge stretch of the imagination) if he wants it to be actually fun. He doesn't play games, he completes games.

His goal isn't to have fun and see what he can do in the game today. His goal is to get as much storyline completed in his allotted time so he can stop playing the game and play the next game hoping the next one will turn his business around.

He can make the game fun if he stops caring about the money and the views. He is so worried about being demonitized and getting copyright strikes that he has no commentary. A streamer like Mr. Metokur or even Tevin call people faggots. They say nigger. They say gas the Jews. They play copyrighted music. They make a lot more per stream and get more views than Phil. They may be toxic but they are having fun and the viewers have fun as a result.

I'm going to guess 3 seeing that Kat will make an appearance at Halloween.

How fucking depressing that instead of going to a halloween party with friends or whatever like a normal person, you get to babysit a belching roundie who sits in his office all day shaking a can at expectionals on the internet.
Based on his saying she won't be there for the entire stream, I am going to speculate that SHE is going to a Halloween Party b/4 or after popping in for a brief stream appearance to placate him.

GeneticGamer was salty that Phil didn't answer his questions.
Phil retorted that cheering isn't about having your essay questions answered, it's about supporting the streamer.
It boggles my mind that he demands interaction, restricts it to only limited types of comments, then sits and stews in silence because he can't provide commentary of his own.
At this point, he might as well entertain all paragraphs, baits and essay questions. It might actually fill the void and cut down on the goat laughs.

Genetic and 3rd Eye repeatedly cheer with pointed questions that Phil is obviously scared to address, but he keeps unbanning them because they are some of his most consistent cheers at the moment. Then he points out that he's not going to answer them so everyone can go and look at what he is refusing to answer. If he isn't going to engage them, he needs to get rid of them permanently, he can't let things hang in this limbo. NewFaceofCreation is less of a disruption than this.

It's literally Phil's job to make his stream fun and entertaining, no matter what game he's playing.
The curious thing about this is that he stresses that his presence is the necessary component, and that his raw content is transformative. But here he is tacitly saying that the game carries the entertainment value, and that isn't his responsibility. Phil is again trying to occupy some limbo that grants him the protection of actually doing something, without the effort that is required to do the thing in question.

Saying that something is fun does not magically make it fun. Don't force it. He needs to play the game like no one is watching him (not a huge stretch of the imagination) if he wants it to be actually fun.
And the problem with this is that Phil has no skill and is stupid, as we saw in the days before he had access to a chat. This was when his content was best received because it was actually fun to watch him fail. But Phil's ego can't allow this, and his lack of skills mean that the playthrough will never be engaging for being unique, only laughable. If he could just embrace the notion that he is shit and that is the joke, and ban all backseating in chat (other streamers do this), he might actually see some growth. I think he is too far down this rabbit hole to even try that, though.

EDIT: Minor detail, but Phil silently just started leaving the leaderboard up for every game. He originally made a big deal that it would only be for games that were not cinematic/brand new playthroughs. It has been up for both Spider-Man and Red Dead, two games that should definitely not have it. Another thing he screamed about in the past that he is now doing.

this, he wont look for interaction outside of cheers, and most cheers arent asking questions. and when they are, its usually some dumbass thing that phil can say in like 3 words "do you like hotdogs". then hes back to sitting there in dead silence, cause he doesnt know how to provide commentary other than repeating the game and mocking cutscenes (when he should stfu).

i guess because he has nothing to do doing a cutscene that his brain is able to work full force on something that isnt gameplay. and most of his gears are turning in game to not look like a complete dumbass that he isnt able to think of any good commentary

It doesn't matter which game he plays, he does less and less commentary. The dead silence times get longer and longer, he even doesn't repeat what just happened in the game that much. He could talk about everything that comes to his mind, yet his head got so empty during his ten year legacy. Even in RDR2, which he could go full circle with his original RDR playthrough, he goes no risks. This man has long lost the ability to enjoy a game, and his mind can only come up with so many repetitive phrases until he gets bored himself.

not paying attention to the story, i know whats where alot of my commentary comes from in single player games. talking about the story, figuring it out, discussing it. his commentary, oh theres a quest over here, grabs it and says. now i have to go over here

the dark souls story is one of the most unique and interesting stories in the gaming world that was also very obscure and each could almost make their own with it. yet if you watch, he doesnt give 2 shits about the lore. doesnt even spend 5 secs trying to connect it or understand it

Tevin has pointed out that Phil does sit there and look at the chat but he seemingly deliberately says nothing unless someone cheers. However, the minute someone says "You have to cheer for Phil to notice you", he sees that and shits on it. He also immediately notices most serious 'detractor' stuff said in the chat, and will actively move to ban them. At this point, I can't tell if Phil is in denial about this being how he operates, or if he is fully aware and just does a terrible job at trying to hide it. But he will apparently stare at the chat for an awkward amount of time and then just turn back to the game. I have seen no other streamer do this without then saying something to participate in the conversation.

i know what you mean, i have seen this personally actually. hadn't occurred to me cause he really doesnt say anything. like that dark souls 2 dlc run when someone says he was looking at chat, and he went off on them saying he hasnt looked at chat in a million years *irony* lol.

its almost kind of creepy huh, maybe he just has no input on the conversations in chat being had. whatever they are, unless its negative. then he has to chime in with his steroid negativity

lmao. This guy that helped develop actual games doesn't understand games.

Unlike Phil, this guy is playing video games on his free time, and actually enjoying it.:stress:
How is that possible??? You mean people play games for entertainment and they might actually like a game that has been hyped for good reason???? Meanwhile Phil will only play a game if some money is coming his way. This "old man" probably spent hundreds of hours looking at games that weren't even close to release and he still enjoys playing them.

Edit regarding Phil staring at chat: A lot of times the chat is so bored that they are WAY off on another topic. During RDR2 they were talking about circumcision for about 20 minutes. This is probably because Phil was barely saying anything besides his stupid ass "huh hu" goat laugh during that time and he wouldn't read any cheers either. Phil stares at chat so he can instaban someone the moment they say something a little bit negative. Once he finds someone to ban, he does it and then he has something to talk about for 20 minutes. RDR2 is a beautiful game and it IS a little slow but it's more a game that makes you notice the little things. Phil has no sense for subtlety and won't notice them. On top of that this is a game where you, as a streamer, will actually have to TALK about things, and can't just narrate every little thing on screen.

That's why Phil says that streaming and interacting is harder than editing. Because he has no recent (within the last 15 years) experiences that he can comment on and bring up during streams. "oh, this looks amazing, reminds me of the time me and Panda went camping near the mountains." He doesn't have any of that because he never leaves the house. A normal person will have things to say.
