Last time I checked, lawyers advise their clients to stay the fuck off of social media and STFU about their pending case.

Yet here we are with a lawyer who not only encourages his client to sperg out on Twitter and GoFundMe, but who also joins in and contributes to the torrent of 'tism. This probably explains why Waid picked Zaid despite the high price tag and the fact that he can't practice law in Texas.

I swear, in several years, this case will be in legal textbooks as an example of how NOT to behave as a lawyer.

Though to seriously answer your question. Outside of things like a biased judge or some unforeseen drama, my guess would be either-
A: The lack of direct evidence and AP siding with Waid being convincing enough for the judge to throw the case out.
B: Mayer shits the bed and doesn't bring any of the social media posts in as evidence.
C: Said evidence is thrown out for some technicality or another.
D: There's some surprise smoking gun evidence like a recording the phone call between Waid and AP that shows it was innocuous.

None of these are especially likely. Just what are the only reasonable way I can see things going against Meyer. I still think that this is open and shut, with the possibility of a shit show as Waid goes on a tirade about nazis and comicsgate conspiracies.

I remember Jack Thompson getting thrown off his court case against Rockstar for all the spergery on the internet back in the day. Is it possible that Zaid could get reprimanded for this?

Wasn't it his spergouts in other cases what got him disbarred eventually?

We had to watch a bunch of those put together by the bar association at least a decade before and made on shitty video tape. Turns out lawyers who volunteer to be in professional responsibility videos for the bar association are really shitty actors.

No wonder it jumped up so much, i thought it was slowing down earlier after reaching around the 45k mark, then checked it a few hours later and saw it was around 57k.

If this goes to trial and Zack wins, i hope the judge severely punishes Waid with damages, I don't want him to be able to get out of this relatively scott free.

Punitive damages are generally scaled to what the defendant can pay. As they are intended to punish, they are often considered as a percentage of the net worth of the defendant, to make sure they actually punish reprehensible conduct.

Depends. If it's just a matter of outspending the plaintiff until he runs out of money, they might win that way. Or force it to a settlement. That's how a wealthy, privileged white male often gets away with breaking the law.
