He's being disagreed with because we are sick of being labeled misogynists to deflect any and all criticism against their cause.

It's been shown numerous times that anti doesn't give a shit about women and wants them to remain victims.

That's essentially what I was saying. Pro-GG want game reviews to be unbiased and uninfluenced by the ones they're reviewing. Anti-GG don't want misogyny in video games. There shouldn't be any disagreement between the two, and yet here we are. .

No, I'm saying that we have never been misogynists and this is partly because the prominent people in anti have been making money from clickbaiting to bring in a crowd that has literally no interest in video games while when we call bullshit on this they scream "OH MY GOD YOU HATE WOMEN MISOGYNIST YOU'RE TRANSPHOBIC RESPECT MY PRONOUNS"

When Anita was on the Colbert report she was asked to name three misogynistic games. She could only name GTA, which for the record is misogynistic on purpose because the entire game is satire of American culture and it intentionally shows the worst of everything. She didn't have other two examples.

Anti wants women to remain victims so they have more things to write about and can thus line their pockets even more.

I get that but he was telling it like it is, they hit you with this misogynist stuff because that's what they think the issue is about. Can't change your opponent if you fail to understand what their mindset is. As an addendum that's exactly why you can't reach some people if their ideas are so far from reality because you have no base to build on.

Isn't the question kind of "Is it gamers' lawn?"--"gamers" as they exist as a group now, that is. Like, I think the opposition would say it's a commons area they want access to. Don't over think the metaphor. I haven't been able to sleep so it probably isn't that deep. The basic point of it was that it's easy to attack someone's character to pull attention away from the original issues. It's extremely easy to do and can be damaging if a person doesn't address the accusations enough or addresses them too often. Either way the original issues have a huge risk at taking a backseat and and possibly being neglected.

Anyone who is vocally pro-GG has likely had to explain the issues regarding the death threats to Anita Sarkeesian multiple times despite the fact it isn't a core issue. I don't care about Anita that much. She doesn't have much to do with GG beyond just not liking it. The death threats were worded to seem anti-feminist, not pro-GG. Believe it or not those two stances aren't the same thing. People feel like there is sexism keeping women out of the gaming industry? Valid concern. Doesn't have much to do with GG though. Some of us are just insane enough to want people in gaming journalism to be held by some basic ethical standards. No being flown out, wined and dined, just to preview games, no free consoles from a publisher to "help" a reviewer review their game, no accepting exclusive previews if a positive review is ensured, no extra coverage on a project or developer because a journalist is BFFs or sleeping with them, less clickbait, etc.

Tired. I hope some of that made sense.

You're offended at the wrong people. You need to be offended at the men who oppress you with their sexist videogames and their sexy, sexy female characters, who hate that women are making videogames now [because women never made videogames until the indie scene started] and that Anita Sarkeesian made thousands of dollars to not work.

You guys remember how Giant Bomb started? Jeff was fucking let go because he didn't give Kane & Lynch a good review (about 7/10) while the games advertisements were plastered all over GameSpot. Now look at them, keeping Patrick around for obvious over reaction clickbait bullshit and riding off the coat tails of any good Ryan had done for them. They are turning right into what they escaped from.

Look at Geoff Keighley. Look at how fucking dead he is on the inside from selling out. There are some older pics of a younger him and a younger Gabe hanging out together. You could tell he gave a shit.

Adam Sessler, what the fuck happened to him. One day he's making a top 10 list of video game girls (pointing out their boobs and stupid shit like that) on TV, the next he's telling his own audience they are "dead" and tells everyone how "problematic" games are.

I know, I know, you are probably laughing at my stupid post because this shit does also happen in the mainstream media. Maybe I'm just naive, maybe I'm just getting too old and bitter, but I promise it wasn't always like this.

Now the narrative wants to paint me as a woman hater. Me, having some fond memories of playing a Sega Genesis with my older sisters and Mario Kart with my younger ones. With the narrative shifting, this is how they will remember me too instead of the good times. I'm sick of it.

I don't think it's worth it. As mentioned previously, the damage has been done. Going after the scraps of Google ads would be like trying to get the last few coins from a Mario P-Switch. You did good enough, just let the music run out and the remaining coins will disappear eventually.

If we could completely kill Gamasutra right now, it would send a powerful message, get a lot of attention, and boost the hell out of morale.
