What I personally find hilarious is thus:

Have you seen the character design in Revolution 60? Female characters in miniskirts and skin-tight latex and plunging v-neck tops and even a bunch of fashions that they didn't rip off from Mass Effect. The female characters in Revolution 60 are as sexualized, if not more so, than other games - and apparently, the defense is that "It's fine when our side does it."

I never cease to get a chuckle out of this shit. ORIGINAL OUTFIT; DO NOT STEAL. It really just speaks for itself.
Yeah, like I mentioned in the last thread, why the hell should I care about a "sexy" skinny blonde white woman?

There's nothing great about all of these women, they're all most likely the same character model with different hair and clothes. Even in that gameplay trailer, there's literally nothing about any of them that makes me care about their motivations, personalities, anything. They're just thin white women fighting against a bunch of male guards for some reason? I don't care, I didn't watch the whole thing, it was a bore.

And really, 2-3 hours of gameplay? What's the point then? Most of the popular games out there can't be completed in less than a day, a lot of them have optional quests and dumb shit to waste your time on to make you play more, plenty have customization content to personalize your experience and yadda yadda. If her game isn't very long, it's gotta have replay value or nobody's going to care... which nobody does!

She probably couldn't even bother with "cheap" stuff like difficulty levels or achievements, because like Nega said, it's just a mary sue fantasy for her. Nobody cares about her self-insert and that's bullshit in her mind.

I feel sorry for the people who worked with her.

Yeah, yeah I think this puts to rest any doubt that he's been lying through his teeth this whole time about money problems with his games. He's a scam artist, plain and simple. He's been lying about how much money he's needed, just so that he can take a chunk of it away for himself, while half-assing the games he makes, because it nets him more money.

How'd it come to this? You know, back in the day when game devs held parties, those parties were coke parties with hotubs and Steve Jobs was the one cutting the lines for you. Just what the fuck happened?

I still can't believe Tim Schafer could make me hate him.

Makes sense now though that he told Notch Psychonauts 2 would take 18 Million dollars of funding to make and scared him away. The man clearly does not know how money works.

When I was younger I wanted to develop video games,I looked up to people like Tim and after this it feels like i'v been stabbed in the back.
I still want to develop a video game, even trying to figure out what engine I can run on my computer. The atmosphere right now however makes me feel kinda skittish.

That book War of the Worlds has a minister basically shitting himself in fear until he gets fed to the aliens.

I think if Christians were generally portrayed as ineffectual, cowering weaklings , we'd hear more about it.

And they did want to change games, didn't they? Back in the day? Around the time of the controversy about rap and \M/ETAL and parental advisories on albums? Or am I just making that up? I thought that was why Splatterhouse something something. I think I'm lying, though.
PMRC was Al Gore's wife's schtick, not Christianity's. The best part was Dee Snider testifying to the Senate committee. There are some parallels, like miscalculating on the one's you are attacking's intelligence and willingness to stand up for themselves. I occasionally go back and read the transcripts for a laugh. Frank Zappa was almost as good.

I can kinda relate. I always liked video games but can't code, draw, or be a part of the industry for shit. In high school I considered becoming a journalist but threw that idea out the window when I had to deal with drama for the writing club and thought I could just wait until after school and write professionaly with adults in this field.

So then it turns out a majority of them never graduated high school mentally, oh well.

That's basically what SJW are after. Female characters can only be designed by females, you can only make characters of your own ethnicity/gender/sexuality/ect...

Basically, they want segregation of everyone and everything.
Segregation

I'm not sure if it's about segregation as it is getting accurate or positive representations out there so people know how to act when they run into each other in real life.

There's this "People's History of Gamergate" I found on 8chan. Don't know what but the PHoGG thing starts off, "I hadn't originally intended to open this article with Welcome, but there seems to be some confusion on the subject. So just to clarify again, welcome. I don't know what you look like, where you're from, or how you are dressed. Honestly, I couldn't care."

That's not much of a welcome. You can't welcome someone by saying, "I don't care what your choices or experiences are, I will treat you the way I want to treat you." Like, that's some pretty cocky shit to say to someone you've never even met before.

Like, you can't treat everyone the same way you'd treat a white person or not, or like they know or care what quinoa is or don't, or like they trust you or don't. Or that they'll enjoy the same characters and stories as you. Or whatever. "Welcome! We'll make fun of your clothes!"

I mentioned in another post something I think is totally true and legitimate--that games are part of how this really wide-read book I've heard referred to at seminars and stuff 7 Habits of Highly Effective People calls the Seventh Habit, "sharpen the saw," that they have to do with the way people relate to each other. I heard a story about a kid from a...n administrative region. His dog got heat exhaustion; because of where they were from, they didn't have the money to go to the vet so his dad shot it to death. He's good at school and there're more opportunities to live a life where you don't have to kill anything you love at the one like 20 miles from where he lives. It goes into how it strained friendships back home and how it's awkward that his clothes are different than the kids he goes to school with.

This was from a kids' book, so it was kind of a simplistic story. It was actually based on the author's life. Maybe a writer from outside of the area he grew up could come up with the "dog" thing, I dunno. But does it mean the same thing coming from someone who hadn't lived it? And then who gets paid--and, y'know, laid, being that it think it's important to talk about how it affects relationships and we're all very virile young men here (do you agree, my fellows?)--for that experience being bought and sold?

I wouldn't believe it if someone told me there aren't some people out there who aren't kind of "segregationist" about it, but if that's unreasonable, Gamergaters are claim the death-threateners, who are being unreasonable, are a vocal minority. Maybe that's the same way. I don't know.

As someone who's thinking about starting to do something so inane and wasteful of time, money, and attention as playing video games again in order to have something to relate to my peers over, I'd be curious if they could compete in the industry without putting on that kind of event to attract resources.

We still have Matt Bozon.

Don't let assholes ruin it for you. Show 'em what you can do.

I read the welcoming line as, "come as you are, we are all equal here. I will not place you on a pedestal or look down on you depending on who you are."

I can't believe this. How could such a creative man be such a con artist?

Wait, I answered my own question. Oh.

I don't think he's a con-artist. I think he's just complete shit when it comes to managing funds... like.. Chris level. Some artistic types need to have handlers, people to keep them on their toes. Tim Schafer is obviously that type. I feel like if he worked for someone else and they said "You only have 50k to work with" he'd somehow make something great. However if he's running things and gets the impression he has money and time to burn then he'll blow it on trying to implement every idea that pops into his head. Next thing you know a solid game idea has become over-ambitious and lost direction.

I read the welcoming line as, "come as you are, we are all equal here. I will not place you on a pedestal or look down on you depending on who you are."
I'm sure that's how it's meant, but in practice, what they're doing is totally dehumanizing their counterpart. Where someone's from, what they look like, what they're wearing means something to human beings that it doesn't mean to other animals. If someone who looks different than you, is from somewhere else, and bothers to dress differently than you, it's possible--maybe probable, definitely not necessary--that they don't want to be made fun of by you. You're not cool like that.

Like, you don't know what it's like to "have your dog shot in the head when everyone else in your school would've just gone to the vet," whatever that experience actually is in reality. You don't know everything that goes along with that--how fucking savage that seems to everyone else, for example: like, "Do you just fucking hate dogs, or... ?" Like, if that guy's not your friend, if you're not really sensitive, if you're not really socially active and socially aware--and let's face it, a lot of gamers aren't, <---THIS IS YOU (or your friends or your fucking family) or is that just a hurtful stereotype you'd rather avoid?--you're going to be stepping on nerves you don't even know are there.

Ultimately, they're kind of saying: "I want to be friends with you, but you're kind of being a dick about some stuff that's like, really important to me. ... O-- ... Oh, it's not important to someone who #lookslikeme? Um... I #dontcare, this fucking... makes me want to... not... live life right now. Like, I don't want to be that guy in that prison I don't want to be that guy in that prison I don't want to be that guy in that prison I don't want to be that guy in that prison. I grew up not wanting to be that guy in that prison. I've tried my whole life not to be that guy in that prison. Frankly, I avoid every situation I can where I feel like someone thinks I'm that guy in that prison. Every time I run into someone like you, every time I pick up a controller, you and your game tell me I'm that guy in that prison like that's just something to do for fun. I don't want to be that guy in that prison. I want to live. I want to kiss girls. I want to get laid. I want to talk to people without wanting to die."

"I'M NOT ASKING YOU TO PUT ME ON A PEDESTAL WHEN I ASK YOU NOT TO TALK SHIT ABOUT MY DOG GETTING SHOT IN THE HEAD, IT'S JUST A SENSITIVE FUCKING SUBJECT. JESUS."

And then people start all this "#barkbark" shit because you're trying to claim Special Snowflake Status because, hey, we've all got dogs, chill out. But not everyone's lives are the same about it.

Y'know... "Hey, we all drink. What's the big deal?" "You get killed by a regular bullet, you get killed by a pork-covered bullet, what's the difference?" "It's just a donut. You don't eat donuts?"
