YouTube is apparently refunding all $25,000 raised for St. Jude's Children's Hospital raised by the #Healstream a few weeks ago.

Why? That just seems like cutting of your own nose to spite your face. Unless saint jude said "we dont want to be associated with the Killlstream" there should be no reason to give the money back. It's not like the donaters where conned out of it. YouTube must really want to distance it self from Ralph and co

Maybe they wanted to avoid "YOUTUBE RAISES 25K FROM ALTRIGHT" plastered all over the lefty media sources but this way it's "YOUTUBE BLOCKS 25K FROM BEING DONATED TO CANCER KIDS" and I'm sure both seemed bad but one is obviously worse. All this is going to do is piss off the alt right and it'll still look terrible on the lefty outlets anyways. What were they thinking?

Yes, but luckily James for the most part sticks to internet drama such as the skeptics, Furries, tumblr, Neo-Gaf, sovereign citizens, ect. The only time he talks about world politics is when it affects the internet or to mock one of the groups i mentioned. So i dont think he is as much on there radar as Ralph who nightly goes on about world politics

I thought this """journalist""" thot in question was contacting certain livestream hosts asking about the content of superchats for a WSJ article, not the content of a livestream itself.
Like nigga, do you see what people put in Jim's chat/superchats? And that Jim has no hesitation to repeat it, word for word?

And he still gets onto the trending list despite all of this?

But if it was only and only about superchats, then Jim should be struck down too - he's guilty of wrongthink and on an international serial killer level.

But he's not, Ralph is.

So which is it, are they depersoning Ralph for hate speech or for being on the wrong side of history?

Wow... I-I literally don't have any other words to say to that...

Incitement to hatred isn't a crime in the US, though in general, when it comes to illegal content, it'd depend on how much you knew about it. If a two hour stream has 15 minutes of people planning a crime at the end, and youtube deletes it based on the first 15 minutes they listened to, they are probably in the clear. Might depend on how active the moderation is.

Yes probably a bad choice. I was thinking more along the lines of incitement to genocide/violence. I've just done some reading and it appears CDA 230 doesn't provide protection on a federal level. So if you had a forum and were allowing ISIS to post recruitment videos I don't think you could claim immunity.

With all the "harassment" she'll get now, the headline will be "Alt-right threatens to kill female journalist".

This just seems like parsing implication vs explicitivity (that even a word?).
Ordinarily, showing up and strongly hinting that someone's business might run into some trouble if that someone doesn't pony up $20 (just sayin!) would be extortion.

But when you do it as a journalist, and you do it publicly, and instead of asking for $20, you're saying that that someone is supporting nazis, well... you get first amendment issues. Yellow journalism.

It does provide protection on a federal level. It's a federal law. Cloudflare distributes ISIS websites.

Koh definitely has the background to have the contacts at YouTube who could swing this.

Yes she's done some interviews/reports with people from twitter on content policing IIRC from when I was reading about her earlier and skimming her articles.

Holy fucking shit :stress:
These people brought it to another level (again). I hope they realize that on their autistic puritanical crusade they just stripped money from not only literal dying kids but kids from different backgrounds and races too. Last time I check St.Judes doesn't discriminate who gets treatment.
Jesus Christ.

Yea YouTube. Take away money going to kids with cancer. That's totally not shooting your own foot and shooting it again to be sure you hit the target. You guys are truly the pinnacle of morality.

TRIGGER THE RIGHT OWN THE RIGHT. ALSO CANCER KIDS.
