I have briefly read the article by WSJ, is it me, or does it seem like the woman manufactured the story. We talked to St Jude's... Then we write about how they will refund/refuse money.

Seems like a small scale Eichenwald. Getting involved in a story so that there is more to write about. I would not be surprised if she does a follow up about how the channel was shut down.

Anyone that would have approached St Jude with a copy of that stream, be it a reporter, a private organization, a private citizen, etc...St Jude would have responded the same.

No matter how the information came out, and it would have eventually come out since the stream was saved on the internetR, it was bad optics for St Jude. They have an endowment in millions, if not over a billion. They cannot risk future donations for what is...let's be honest...a relatively small amount of dosh. They have to look at the big picture.

No it wasn't. It was "bad optics" for ralph. St Jude takes money to help kids with cancer. The only people putting St Judes in a bad position are the people happy to see ralph kicked off youtube and having to defend the fact that there are children with cancer who now have less money to help.

This happens all the time. There have been lawsuits in the past over groups attempting to donate to private charities that did not wish to have the money. Effectively the courts have determined that unless it is a government thing, say "adopt a road" program, a private group cannot force another private group from accepting donations.

We see this controversy all the time. There have been many organizations from Universities, religious groups, hospitals, etc that refuse funds from groups that are problematic. Gulf Coast Countries do this all the time where they try to purchase good press in the west.

Imagine if St Jude took funds from Hamas...do you think this would not cause them problems? And it is much easier for St Jude to take a proactive, heavy hand then waste time and learn the nuances and background of every single group. It is just easier, quicker, and cheaper to return the money than face the bad press.

I am not saying what happened to St Jude and Ralph is the right thing that should have happened. I think St Jude is acting appropriately. They need to protect their image.

If you read about nginx and rtmp streaming it said it was 'surprisingly low CPU usage'. That's because nginx is written in C++ AS GOD INTENDED and all you're doing is shoving the same H.264 compressed bytes into 20K sockets and that is not CPU intensive. Web servers are also very scalable across machines with lots of threads like dual core servers. And you can always split the 20K over a few physical servers with load balancing.

Now I don't know what 'not CPU intensive' means in this context and I'd need to experiment to find out. However I reckon you could just build a server that could do it for a lot less than Ralph made a month. Hell you can pick up second hand blade server very cheap because companies tend to get rid of their hardware once they've written it off for tax purposes. EEVblog regularly finds old servers dumpster diving.

I think teenagers are 'Nazis' now for the same reason they were 'Satanists' in the 1980s. Back in the 80's they claim to be Satanists to upset the normies at a time when school pushed Christianity on them. Now school pushes Intersectional Social Justice they claim to be Nazis.

Don't push ideologies onto teenagers in a dumb way and you won't get teenagers rebelling in a dumb way.

In regards to the "outrage", people should be making phone calls instead of sending text messages into the void.

Hopefully wherever Ralph decides to stay in the end, the place will have a bit more tact than bitchute and remove literal nazi propaganda so it won't be the next "right-wing echo chamber" for whoever access their front page.

Sadly, not having a notification in my usual website telling me about the killstream will make me miss a lot of episodes I could have watched live. Maybe a channel just for killstream notifications should be setup (:_(
