I just love how Bob is smart enough to know that he should deny his publicly stated belief's because of how terrible they truly are, but he's not smart enough to not publicly reveal them in the first place so they wouldn't be connected with his name.

The book came out in 2013, right? About a year before Gamergate, where Bob went completely mental. At this point Game Overthinker was well over 100 episodes, but I was getting into a new time in my life, so I ended up no longer viewing the show. I knew all about when Bob ended the show though.

It came out in 2013 but was written in 2012. At one point he writes how he decided to not attend a post-funeral reception because he doesn't trust himself to not act like a sperg.

Yes that's in the book. Except for Mario is Missing that backstory is only mentioned in TV shows, so I'm not sure why this came as a shock to him. (Especially as a high school senior???) TBH I thought his autistic speculation on Mario lore could have been interesting, because it reminded me of having a bigger imagination at age 10, but it's only a couple of sentences in the middle of a gigantic text let's play, and it isn't actually very deep.

It's kind of hilarious how he makes SMB3 sound like an ultra-difficult Kaizo romhack of itself, (it takes him a month to beat the game,) but again: any enjoyment during this section is sucked out by it being a gigantic text let's play. You know how every text let's play you've ever read just skips to the interesting bits? Not this one.

I can feel myself forgetting the book as I type.

I never watched Bob's stuff but I remember him from the "E-celeb golden age." When I read this thread I was blown away by his ability to tweet all day every day without saying anything important or interesting. (Even more than the average for twitter, I mean.) I ask myself, "Why would Bob care? He doesn't read comic books." Then I remember that this is not about the love of the medium, its characters, or its rich history. It's all about him acting like a smug know-nothing know-it-all because he can read a Wikipedia article.
