I think I’ve realized one of Jake’s issues is he’s confused estrogen for photo filters and PS.
It makes sense, his only social life is via the computer so he has no idea that most of these troons look nothing like the heavily edited, carefully angled and flattering selfies they post. He believes estrogen is a IRL photoshop or IG filter.

The only people who "make a living" on less than one article per month are people reliant on others' support. You can make a reasonable monthly wage with a single long-form article for the New York Times Magazine or The Atlantic. Top-tier outlets pay as much as $1-2/word even for long-form pieces that are 5k+ words.
But the people who do that don't get an article in a magazine like that every fucking month. The people who can honestly make a living on a few well-researched articles every year are a vanishingly small number, less than probably 10 in total. The vast majority of freelance journalists are both writing far more frequently than that and not really making a whole living wage that can support a family. Most long-term freelancers have someone at home who makes a consistent living, so that their family is not 100% reliant on a variable income with no benefits.
Jake has the typical confidence of every failure-to-launch man that a huge number of people are getting rich for doing practically nothing, and that he just doesn't have the right connections to do it. This is another part of his unrealistic fantasy of what he can do with his life once he's out on his own. He has told himself that if he was only given enough money to get a little apartment, he could transition to being Violet, then end up with plum journalism assignments that would let him slack and turn out an article every month or two that he did 5 hours of Googling to produce.

OK, pause. I keep hearing "Trans people get murdered" from asshats like Jakey. He argues that they are the victim of violent crime disproportionally. And if you're the kind of person who uncritically listens to Troons, that seems to be the case. Unfortunately, I took a closer look at this and now we're going to have to talk about it. There's been a little over 20 transgender homicides in the USA since the start of the year. Let's look over each and every one, and see if we can notice a pattern in these:
Do you notice the fucking pattern yet? If not, I'll break it down.
Of the 22 specifically transgendered homicides listed above:
9 were sex workers, the bulk of whom were killed specifically by clients or Johns.
5 were murdered by acquaintances or friends.
4 were killed in attempted robberies.
3 Have no known motive or suspects.
1 was simply being at the wrong place at the wrong time.
And most importantly.....
Zero so far were killed solely because they were trans or out of a desire to murder a transperson.
1. Christine Leigh Steele-Knudslien
Killed by her Husband, who later turned himself in.
2. Vicky Gutierrez
Killed in a robbery gone wrong before the criminals who did it lit her on fire to try to remove the evidence.
3. Celine Walker
Serious question over whether or not this was a suicide, as she was found alone at a motel room. Was a sex worker and was killed by one of her clients. HRC was more worried that she was misgendered than the lack of any suspects.
4. Tonya Harvey
Was Buffalo, NY's first murder of the year. No suspects or apparent motive.
5. Zakaria Fry
Killed by her roommate, who also killed a third roommate.
6. Phylicia Mitchell
Killed by her drug dealer. He was caught in a nationwide manhunt, and faces charges later this year.
7. Amia Tyrae Berryman
Killed in a motel room by one of her Johns, who was caught. HRC ignored that she was a prostitute. Hmm.
8. Sasha Wall
Killed by her ex.
9. Carla Patricia Flores-Pavon
Killedfor having a terrible hyphenated name by another would-be robber.
