They do this pretty consistently though. The Bush admin was eight years of portraying him as literally retarded, and yet somehow he just kept managing to scheme and plot and execute all these flawless diabolical plans. Same thing with Trump, they see no contradiction in constantly claiming he's a bumbling nincompoop who can't even dress himself and yet somehow managed to steal the election, rig the midterms, plot for years on how to make Acosta shove an intern, etc. etc.

What they don't understand is that Trump generally trolls for a reason. They mustn't count on him to do so in a way that is against his interests. If they think he has and they're about to jump on it, they should first ask: Is this what he wants? How could he use this reaction against us?
