I doubt it would help, and I suspect he'd drop out even quicker than he dropped out of computer science. Reading popular history books and name-dropping Locke isn't evidence of an aptitude in the humanities. It requires a certain amount of skill to be able to take a specific topic, do a critical literature review, and then synthesise and argue a position. I've no reason to believe that Carl is remotely capable of this.
For a comparison, Sargon thought he could learn how to program and then tried to write a game. But his coding is shockingly bad even by exceptional individual standards, because he's an exceptional individual. The same story will play out if he tried to do a philosophy or history degree.
