Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

I consider Red Dead Revolver to be far more fun than Redemption and Redemption 2 with an even more likeable protag to boot.

PC gaming is overrated and the "PC Master Race" crowd rival Nintendrones as the biggest faggots in the entire gaming culture.
It used to be that there was a huge difference between consoles and PC performance and that's where the idea comes from I guess. Nowadays it's not as small of a niche either so being elitist about being a PEACY GAYMER in the year of our lord 2018 is pretty moronic. I still say if you're an enthusiast you'll have a better experience with a good PC, especially since there are so few worthwhile console exclusives these days, but god do I tire of listening to these wannabe hardcore gamers talking about 4K and 60FPS as if they're the holy grail. Shitting on some turn-based RPG for having a 30FPS lock doesn't make you look like a clued-in PC MASTER RACE gamer it makes you look like an absolute tool.

I don't think Pokémon X and Y was as good as people make it out to be. Like it's a fun game, but I felt it relied too much on the fact that it was a 3D game. It wasn't as fun (or challenging) as its predecessors, especially on repeat playthoughs.
My problem with X and Y was that it was too easy and boring. I hated that the game just gives you the EXP Share right at the start, but if you turn it off then the game becomes a slog. The characters you travel with are also dumb as hell; I especially hated that fat kid who was obsessed with dancing.

Granted, I did basically jump from Gen I all the way to X when I first played it (I'm not counting the Gen III remakes of Gen I), so I went in with zero expectations besides the fact it had 3D graphics.

Also, the 3D effects in the game were ruined by the fact that they utterly kill the game's framerate.

i honestly don't get brand or console loyalty
i have owned a nintendo console
two playstation consoles
an xbox 360
and now pretty much play on PC

aaaaand, i don't get why i have to choose which is best
i liked them all

The Kunio Kun Sports games are far more superior than your Fifa or whatever sports game that pops up.

Crash n' the Boys and Super Dodgeball are amazing.

Metal Gear Survive is a good if repetitive survival game and the writers tried their best to pay respect to the series despite being saddled with an exceptional concept by tone deaf higher-ups.

I don't think Tim Schaefer was ever any kind of comedic or design genius. Yeah, he had some neat ideas and did work on some fun games, but I think part of it's because not many other people were making games with a comedy angle when Monkey Island hit (and how much of that is Ron Gilbert is debatable). It was pretty much just LucasArts and Space Quest/Leisure Suit Larry.

He's a lot like Joss Whedon too, in that he'll always blame his failures on outside factors and never his own failures. Brutal Legend was a fucking MESS. Yeah, there was internal strife, but maybe instead of hiring a lot of expensive talent (I love Lemmy but his whole performance was phoned in) make sure you have a solid game to put them into first. Psychonauts was an N64 platformer with a wacky setting. I don't know how anyone has figured this out yet.

Everytime I watch that I feel like my skeleton is slowly being crushed by the atmospheric pressure of cringe it creates.
This is the first time I watched this, and holy shit is this sad. The person playing this writes about video games for a living and can't even get past the first few screens of Cuphead. Yeah, Cuphead is hard and I've died more than a few times on that level, but FFS I didn't die at the first few feet.

I fucking love Pokemon Gen 5, as well as the Pokemon introduced in that gen, including Vanillite, Klink and even Trubbish. I mean, how are a magnet, a rock, a rock snake, an upside down pokeball and a heap of sludge as Pokemon perfectly fine, but a gear Pokemon is somehow running out of ideas?

Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy gets a lot of hate for being one of the early garbage David Cage games but i find that even at worst the game is very interesting and enjoyable. It starts incredibly strong then it chills down and suddendly grows more and more insane every second . It's only the final arc that i would call "gennuinely bad" and only because it comes so sudden it feels like the devs ran out of budget and had to skip the second half of the game.

Oh shit Lucas died! What do you mean he didnt die and came back as a... super human zombie? Wait why is he having sex with Carla? WAIT who is this super power cyborg AI who wants to destroy the world? Why is zombie Lucas using a Kamehameha?!? WHAT IS HAPPENING?!

Oh the world is saved. Ok then???????

P.T. was and still is massively overrated. It was incredibly well made for sure but in the end it was a just a walking simulator. I get it, its a teaser that doesnt reflect the real game but the teaser itself was just walking the same corridor waiting for a jumpscare to happen, something that 99% modern horror games already do.

I also dont think Kojima should've made a silent hill game. He made some fucking good games but i dont see how Kojima should be the one to "save SH's legacy" when nowadays he seems more concerned about having as Hollywood stars in his game/movie(?) as he can. Its a bit sad how everyone knows that Kojima ALMOST made a silent hill game than know who the original creator is.

Are you The Gaming Brit? Because this is almost exactly what he said about Silent Hills.

TGB is one of the super rare actually good game critics out there. He is biased without being edgy, respects underrated games, actually knows what game depth is and doesnt waste my time. I cant think of anyone else out there like him.

Another unpopular opinion since i am here, 99% of youtube game design critics (not reviewers) are bad, bland and boring. The majority of them dont have real in-depth knowledge so they only say painfully surface level stuff that should be obvious, or opinions/guesses that are downright wrong. They are also either super pretentious or super cynical. And yet viewers with zero knowledge think watching those videos makes them smarter.

Mark Brown (Game Maker Toolkit) is less worse than most but he is the best example i can think. Years ago his videos were around 5 minutes long which actually made them much better because it felt like a quick trivia instead of a pseudo game design analysis that will "totally" help you make games.

I am also starting to dislike Joseph Anderson despite him being the polar opposite extreme. He undeniably puts the most work of everyone in his videos to explain EVERYTHING in a game but he is getting so in love with his own brain, he is becoming incapable of understanding how people enjoy things he doesnt enjoy. From his horror games video, im feeling he cant take criticism very well either.

I've disliked Hamsterson since the Odyssey video. I can understand if someone has flaws with that game, it's not perfect, but if he complains that the game is too easy while refusing to use any of the advanced moves to complete the objectives faster in harder ways, then he's just being intentionally obtuse. I heard he played Darkest Dungeon in the same handicapping way, but I haven't played that game yet so I can't comment on that.
