Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

You kind need that use of a controller in your hybrid games, the GTA's for example you're better off the with sensitivity of the triggers for brakes and gas and the analog sticks for the turns.
it's better but it's not that important

it's not like trackmania where you NEED analog sticks and the hands of a surgeon to even finish the harder tracks

Deltarune is a massive step backwards, and a lot of the game seems to be pandering to SJWs (particularly with the abundance of trans and gay characters)
People said the same thing about Undertale, I don't know how the presence of gay characters is a step in any direction from Undertale, and I don't even know what you're talking about with the trans shit. People argued over whether or not Mettaton was supposed to be trans, it seems to me that people just see what they want to see in Toby's games, whether they like them or not, they look at his work and interpret it whatever way they want.

gay peeps aren't a step backwards, pandering to SJWs is. I think gameplay-wise it's a massive step up, just to be clear, but in terms of writing, it just kinda felt "meh"

I really don't know what you mean by pandering to SJWs, can you point to an example?

there's a part where the chistmas tree thing talks about wanting to fuck Susie, the lion dude from the bar in undertale is trans now, I think i recall the guards from Undertale being a gay couple now.

Lol the guards from Undertale were a gay couple IN Undertale, as for the rest I still don't know what you mean. There being gay characters in Undertale never struck me as any kind of "gay agenda" SJW pandering or anything, you might as well say Undyne and Alphys is race mixing propaganda, none of them are human, the world isn't supposed to be an analogue for normal society. You're attaching a political message to a cutesy game about a little kid making friends with monsters. I will say I was kind of confused by Deltarune's writing, it wasn't clear to me exactly what was going on, but considering it's the first chapter of something that might not even ever get finished it is understandable that the story and themes weren't fully laid out right away.

I see what you mean, 100%. Perhaps I was indeed a little quick to judge lol

I never heard Todd Howard’s name until I started reading this sub forum. That is how little I care about gaming journalism.

Could you elaborate? I don't follow Pokemon all that closely.

There was an interview on an italian site with him back when OR/AS came out.

Q:We noticed ORAS had a lower difficulty level compared to previous Pokemon games. What bought you to this decision? Any chance that future games will have the possibility to adjust difficulty level as seen in Black and White 2?

A:What? How come you've already played the games? hearty laughter [the games were supposed to come out in Italy the day after the interview] We created a "balanced" game that was suited for our time and age, where everyone is very busy and young people have various means of entertainment. Using smartphones and other devices they can access a great number of games, so the time they dedicate to a single game is less than in the past. The player can choose to keep on playing after the main story and continue to the post-game, where the difficulty rises and there are much more difficult Trainers and challenges to overcome.

Q:Why wasn't the Battle Frontier in the remakes?

A:This question is connected with my previous answer. We didn't put the BF in ORAS for this very reason. Interviewer's note: In short he means that they didn't include the BF because only a very small part of the players would have fully appreciated and made use of this feature; nowadays players get bored and frustrated more easily and they aren't interested in things that are so demanding/challenging.

And recently he talked about "jerk rivals":
In a GameSpot interview, Game Freak director Junichi Masuda explained that in the good old days, it was hard to express characters through pixel graphics and sprites, so they had to compensate for that in the form of certain personalities and dialogue.

Masuda added as players couldn’t see much on the screen other than dialogue, it wouldn’t leave a very harsh impression on them. But if they were to do this with the latest games where characters can be expressed through elaborate HD graphics and animations, the “impression would be a lot stronger” on players. He also felt rivals with mean personalities “aren’t as accepted by players as back then”.

I will preface this by saying Pokemon Gen 7 is the worst experience I have had on a Nintendo platform period, full stop. Skyward Sword's fucking swimming section was more enjoyable than the entirety of that game.

But that's not a bad/unpopular opinion so I'll follow up with this:

Dark Souls 2 despite being the black sheep of the series is arguably one of the best in the series and it's my personal favorite. Yeah yeah soul memory heehee shitty 4 way deadzone hoo hah ADP. Yeah, I can live with that. Looking past that though is the most content out of the series (even if some of the bosses are less threatening than enemies, whatever), some of the best designed DLC of the lot, the most replayability seeing as how literally every weapon in the game is viable to a degree with the right build, and of course the best online experience with best in class PVP and balanced co-op mechanics. (Phantoms being able to heal until invaded comes to mind unlike the shitfest that was DS3.) Not to mention you can still choose your progression route a-la DS1 which is a very nice quality. Experienced players having the option to skip Forest altogether and opt for Heides or Gutter and on top of that choosing to move on to either Bastille or Copse is so convenient for putting together builds.

And don't get me started on fucking Dark Souls 3. You like Bloodborne? You get Bloodborne with none of the qualities that made Bloodborne good. Aggressive enemies except you don't get a rally mechanic to encourage matching the pace of the game? Any shield smaller than a greatshield is useless but ranged parrying is too much to ask for? (Heehee it's for selective blocking XD) A hallway of a game where your only option for any fucking agency in your progression is doing a mid-late game boss early and maybe doing one or two "optional areas" before being called a good boy and told to get back on the tracks? And let's talk about how some of the content was so overtuned they actually had to nerf it, which is something never done in a Souls game before. (If anyone boasts to me about beating Ringed City in 2018, I played that shit on release and frankly only my rage carried me through it.) Honestly what a fucking shitheap of a game.

Also Demon's Souls is trash too but I haven't finished it so I can't go on an unreadable text wall rant on that quite yet

I'll say it right now, as laughable as Tameem's direction in DmC went, the game wasn't as bad as people made it out to be.

I always preferred DS2’s gameplay over other Soulsborne but jesus christ it was graphical diarrhea

Like it didn’t age well 5 seconds after launch

David Cage games are not bad if they are taken as B movies with high production values. Expecting more than that will certainly cause disappointment.

Persona games are waifu-slobbering weeaboo trash that can only muster up enough depth to pretend to be 2deep4U while not saying anything meaningful at all.
