This seems less like an attempt to make Steven "sexy" and more just an example of how Steven Universe's original proportions are so stubby that they're pretty much fucked in literally any other context.
No wonder nothing in SU's ever on model. The original models were shit to begin with.

Funnily enough most if not all of my problems with character designs like that aren't about the reasons they listed. It's because the style just comes across as lazy and bland, there's so little detail that you could never get any of the character's personality out of it, well to me at least. Just a matter of opinion and all that.
Tumblr promotes healthy growth of any kind the same way that putting a bullet through your skull promotes longevityEh, It's been awhile I'll take a shot. Buckle down folks.
"Red=Dumbass man"?
Someone mentioned Pleb made this right? They're a trans women aren't they? Wow. Way to totally insult someone just because they think differently from you. Trans women are are only trans if they obey you I guess.

Oh, come on! They never said that. When people continuously draw themselves in this particular style it's a trend. How come this is more common with this type of style on Tumblr?
It's not a coincidence when these people reveal themselves they all have these similarities with one another. It might as well be a culture. No one here is saying you can't dress however you want, but seeing this style in art constantly is not a coincidence. That's the point they're trying to make.
"I only wanna bone white chicks"
The fact the every character on tumblr and places as such become three shades darker for no reason isn't up for question? It makes no sense no matter however you say it. Characters like Bayonetta, Adora, MHA, ML, etc... I could on and on about how I saw so many of these characters become black for no reason other than some creepy "representation" fulfillment. It's INSULTING to think that making a character darker isn't just another form of whitewashing works to fit your taste. There's a difference between making a character from X race to explore their background and making them dark skinned "just cus'" it made you feel bad that they were white. I've seen characters that Tumblr constantly wants ( fat, black, disabled) get ignore over turning lighter skinned characters (Lance comes to mind from Voltron) darker for no reason. It's not progressive. It's insulting to think that making a character darker is better automatically. It's no different that thinking making a character white is better.
"I'm scared of girls that aren't smooth"
Some projection there. Every one of these dark-skinned vitilego tumblr artworks have freckles. I've yet to find one that isn't off-putting either. Again, no one said, woman in real life can't have some blemishes, but the average person usually takes decent enough care of their skin. No one is going to be attracted to acne and boils, I'm sorry. And:powerlevel:being someone who used to have terrible acne:powerlevel: it's gross. Your acne/blemishes are not akin to a burn victim. That being said, no one has to be a model obviously, but seeing these super detailed self-harm marks, acne, blemishes, body hair, etc... are disturbing to say the least.
"Skinny girls are my type"
What's wrong with that? Is it fatphobic to be attracted to someone who's not overweight now? Why is it weird to notice how most of these people are a bit chubby?

No. Liking a girl with makeup doesn't mean you hate androgynous looking people. You're just not interested in them. Again, they miss the point. The problem is that these creators don't want to draw women, they want to make androgynous blobs and still call them women. Having a women being feminine isn't a crime and having them look a bit masculine also isn't bad either, but when you avoid this altogether, you get weird looking proportions. That's why people are so perturbed. Once again, having a character who's androgynous isn't bad, but most of the time these artists don't make them look good.
"I got to jack my meat boobs"
Hahaha. Everyone who doesn't agree with me is a perv. Fantastic. What if people just like showing skin? I've seen more people complain about characters showing skin than them not showing any. That doesn't make them inherently perverted. This is such an immature mindset I haven't seen since middle school.
"Women's bodies scare me"
No. The human body is gross, okay. There are plenty of shit we do (or can do) that's potentially disgusting. That's why we cringe, it's a defensive mechanism. Body hair is gross because as I mentioned before you have a higher chance of carrying bacteria with the sweat that comes with your hair(and plenty of other issues as well). People shave not just because it's a social thing, but because it's a sign of taking care of yourself. It's not a coincidence people on Tumblr try to romanticize these things.
Overall, this person responding comes off as immature and pretentious. They don't bother to try understand why people are upset. And the sad part is that I can totally get what they mean, but the problem is that places like Tumblr aren't promoting healthy artistic growth. They're promoting following shitty trends of making characters black for no reason, romanticizing self harm and trans surgery scars, and being asses to people who don't want to take criticism.

Along with the previous reasons stated above, a lot of sjw artists are terrified of Hinting at “reverse racism,” and are also so embroiled in their cop hatred that the sympathetic cop character has to be a marginalized pee oh sea in order for them to comprehend it in a human setting
