DSP's Loan & Savings Company

Um...I can see about doing that kind of breakdown, but that'll take some work since the logs I have are basically split by day, not by stream. My general off-the-top sense is that his first streams of games might make him a bit more, but the stronger correlation is just main stream vs. night stream. Take a look at this day-by-day breakdown from the last 3 months:
Capture.PNG

The tan/brown trace is October. You can see that it's more or less linear through the month, and if you take the total ($5313.37) and divide it by 31 days, you get an average of $168 per day. The flat regions you see? Those are Phil's days off, where he gets (generally) only a token amount from his tooth fairies. If you look at August, the trend is pretty much the same except, of course, for August 22nd, when Tut cheered $2200 at once. Similarly, in September, the rate is linear except for October 5th (I believe that's when Tut gifted his subs) and October 13th and 14th, when Tut gifted some more subs (I think). But I would bet that a linear fit of October 15th through the 20th would give a slope of somewhere around $150 again.

The other complication is his whales' tipping. They tend to show up at random to both main and night streams, so occasionally Phil will have a night stream where he gets like $30 in cheers and subs but will have a $50 or $100 tip. That's another reason it's hard to ascribe earnings to a particular game.

To show you the tips thing, here's a list of all the tips I tracked and for which stream:

Here's a mockup of what a per-stream stats collection program would look like in Bash:

Code:
# check whether or not a stream is live, if not start over
while stream_live; do
  # begin outputting chat log to grep
  # get timestamp, bits IRC tag/sub tier IRC tag from each chat line
  # format the timestamp and bits/sub monetary value into a temporary CSV file
  tail -f chatlog | grep "timestamp|bitsorsubs" | sed 's/format/to/csv' > datetimestreambegan.new
done
# stream is done, time to make permanent CSV files that are needed
for filename in *.new; do
  # read each line to do stuff to it, super inefficient but whatever
 while read line; do
    # if the line was part of the previous stream this will be 0
    grep -c $line previousstream.csv
    # and if it's not 0 then add it to the final CSV file for this stream
    if [ ! $? = 0 ]; then
      echo $line > datetimestreambegan.csv
    fi
  done
  # remove temporary CSV file somehow: delete, move, or rename
  mv $filename trash/
done

Has anyone else noticed that DSP's Patreon page introductory message now reads, in part:
DSP's lying mouth said:
However, sadly in the Summer of 2018, my 8-year-running YouTube channel DSPGayming was demonitized due to factors out of my control, and now I rely primarily on income from my Twitch streaming channel, as well as my Patreon, to keep going!

Is this fat fuck really claiming on his Patreon that his main YouTube channel makes no money at all for extra pity donations?
Is this a recent change I stumbled on and tomorrow he will be telling everyone most of his main channel is demonitized?
Is he just crying about routine demonitization that hits everyone who is as openly crass as he is?

Also, he's got 5 fucking comma's in that run-on sentence. Order your fucking thoughts a little before you vomit them out dood

A cached page from November 6 has the same introductory message.

I guess his Summer demonetization message just wasn't removed after his channel was reinstated. It was some time after that he "changed things up" and "turned everything to Twitch viewers", leaving his Patreon to "greatly dwindle" and be mostly forgotten about.

Ahh, so that's just his message from when he got his AdSense account banned the second time. What a disingenuous piece of shit. I wonder how long he's going to leave up that message claiming to make $0 from his main YouTube channel, especially considering he immediately swapped making uploads to KO Gayming and was making the same amount he would have been on new uploads anyway. His Pay-Me-Tons claims he makes zero YouTube bucks because for 1 month he made $600 less on YouTube than he normally would have. Never change Phil :\

Food for thought.

If DSP said he "doesn't have a business" in the tax evasion saga in Washington when he got caught.

Was he avoiding taxes in Connecticut? Because he still thought he never had a business. Hmmmmm.
he never registered as a business so probably yes

I've long been of the mind that technically D$P owes B&O taxes in Conn. One must remember that D$P had only one income for the most part back then. His accountant saw one income stream in the form of Checks from Machinima. It is reasonable to assume the accountant was under the impression that his client WORKED for Machinima.

No. https://portal.ct.gov/DRS/Businesses/New-Business-Portal/Managing---IND-for-business

"Individuals may operate a business as a Sole Proprietorship. Income and expenses are reported on the proprietor's federal individual income tax return and in return the income will flow through to the Connecticut Individual Income Tax Return.

A sole proprietorship has a single owner who has complete control over a business. The single owner will claim all the profits, make all business decision, and take full responsibility for the debts and obligations of the business. A sole proprietorship is not recognized as an entity separate from its owner or proprietor and is not taxed separately. The income the owner receives from the business is taxed at the owner’s personal income tax rate. Sole proprietorship business owners will file a Federal Schedule C, Profit or Loss From Business, Federal Form 1040, and a Connecticut Individual Income Tax Form CT-1040. The starting income on the Connecticut tax return is the federal adjusted gross income from Federal Form 1040, Line 37; or Federal Form 1040A, Line 21; or Federal Form 1040EZ, Line 4."

Therein lies the rub, D$P did never received 'ALL the profits'. At first, Machinima took 100% of the ad revenue generated off D$P's videos and paid him on a Per View basis that was unrelated to the amount of profit the videos brought in. Later, they took a cut of the ad revenue earned before paying him.

Google Adsense took a cut of the profit generated by D$P's videos before paying Machinima..who then took another cut before paying D$P.

That's like saying a restaurant didn't receive all the profits because they had to pay their vendors. Machinima provided a service to Phil in the form of management and seeking out ads to run on his channel. Of all the money that Phil was directly paid, he kept 100%. You're reaching with this one.

It’s the same deal with actors/actresses with agents... they get a cut for promotion and management while the actor gets the bulk of the profits.

So I've got a question. I've read this thread on and off so I'm unsure if this questions have been asked or whatnot, but what would happen if he just said "Fuck it" and defaulted on the condo? Yeah it'd wreck his credit but are there other possible consequences to doing this? As he just will not claim bankruptcy is this a viable option? Can they put a lien or garnish his shit? It would give him literally thousands of dollars of month. I really can't see how else he can get out of the hole he's dug, waiting he's just greasing the sides.

Any info would be appreciated.

CT is a non-recourse state so he would not owe the part of the loan that the bank would lose when they sell the house

https://www.creditsesame.com/blog/loans/guide-recourse-non-recourse-loans/

The difference would however count as income to the IRS. What he could probably do if he was a little smart is stop paying to the CT condo and put the monthly mortgage away in a savings account until it is foreclosed on and then use that savings account to pay to taxes on the 40k or so that would be the "income" from the debt being forgiven. Of course the joke here is, there is no way DSP could actually save anything so the tax bill would just be another surprise and he did nothing wrong emergency.

Edit, actually I think I read some of this incorrectly, in a non-recourse state the forgiven debt is not taxable. This makes stopping payment by DSP and getting foreclosed on look more and more attractive all the time.

https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/home-foreclosure-and-debt-cancellation

"Non-recourse loans:A non-recourse loan is a loan for which the lender’s only remedy in case of default is to repossess the property being financed or used as collateral. That is, the lender cannot pursue you personally in case of default.Forgiveness of a non-recourse loan resulting from a foreclosure does not result in cancellation of debt income. However, it may result in other tax consequences, as discussed in Question 3 below."

The lender must see that he has high income and purchased a condo in seattle instead of paying back mortgage. Is he untouchable as long as he pays his mortgage on the ct condo?

I'd imagine the bank would go after him pretty good considering he has a high income and assets of several hundred thousand.

The funniest thing? Phil was in his chat before he started streaming today talking shit about games and Collector’s Edition. He kept talking about people paying, “big bucks,” for what is essentially, “worthless plastic...”

The absolute lack of self awareness might be the funniest part about DSP. Talked shit on the shitty Master Chief helmet for the Halo 3 (I think?) CE... Meanwhile he has dozens upon DOZENS of worthless video game and comic book statues.

For clarification, I own 1 statue, and it cost me like $40 on eBay...

CD8E95FF-0327-4F65-A9F2-7AE87D17B6CD.jpeg

I got it because I’m a gunlance main and Lagiacrus is one of my favorite monsters.

Phil has like $300+ statues of Batman and dumb shit like that that he REFUSES to sell.
