While it’s a somewhat thoughtful piece it’s premise is hormones and surgery don’t cure gender dysphoria, it doesn’t stop the pain but none the less transition/surgery on demand! Mitigation of pain should not be the litmus test for approving treatment for gender dysphoria, nor should it be expected to make one happy

Sounds like another trender who thought medical transitioning was a magic wand. Now he's getting real dysphoria from pumping himself full of estrogen, plus all of the emotional problems it causes. When you're doing something to yourself that causes you emotional and psychological pain, most people would stop doing it. Most people aren't troons. The doctor who is prescribing him something which is so obviously making his mood worse should have his license to practice medicine revoked.

As far as I can tell, his argument is he should be allowed to medically transition, regardless of what anyone thinks. Even if it makes him feel worse. In a way, I kind of get what he's saying. It's his body, his choice. But if he's getting worse dysphoria from estrogen, it's a good chance he was never dysphoric in the first place. The author of this piece is whining about gatekeeping, but he never considers that those gates sometimes exist for a reason. He's just another trender who wants HRT and GRS to be like any other plastic surgery, damn the consequences.

It strikes me that that quote is exactly the sort of thing that Jake, as well as a whole lot of his Twitter pals, would write to explain their own so-called dysphoria. That right there's the rub - Chu is literally living the lifestyle that Jake whines constantly about, and he's outright saying that transitioning did not make him feel one bit better about his life, let alone turn him into this romanticized ideal of a woman. It completely destroys Jake's fantasy that if only one or two things were different in his life, he'd be a super successful, super sexy Girl On The Internet who could coast along doing whatever he felt like. Let alone all the other people out there who have decided they absolutely need! to transition because they feel like outcasts with no particular purpose in life.

That right there is the problem with the modern trans narrative and not surprising Jake parrots it without having made any attempts to transition (no therapy, no name change, nothing). Trannies have been pushing for years therapy doesn’t work and that hormones and surgery are the only solutions. Clearly a large number of trannies don’t respond to hormones and surgery and are still depressed/suicidal messes because deep down they know they weren’t born woman and can’t just magically become one like in anime.

The ones that claim they’re fine are just faking to maintain the delusion but it’s preventing real treatment and study. Self-employment taxes begin at $400 a year. Jake is (arguably) selling a service, and no payroll, social security, or any other tax is being taken out of that money. While his personal exemption will wipe out any income tax, there's still a tax on self-employment income. If he's making enough to get a 1099 from Patreon, he's probably going to at least have to file.

Just to expand a bit on Wallace's point, in the US, people are required to file a tax return even if no taxes are owed.

It seems like it, but is it actually? When has it actually worked? There are some famous trans people and have been for quite some time, but I can't think of a single one who was a completely untalented failure like Jake, trooned out, and suddenly became a success. I always think more of people like Wendy Carlos whose success predated their coming out.

I was thinking more in the way that it will give them some media attention and free publicity, that has happened often enough and it's very valuable, but as you say it doesn't result in success because the troons continue to suck just as much as they did when they were men and if they never develop any games it becomes harder to justify giving them attention as allegedly female game developers.

It might not be the best example but it's one that I think of now, Samantha Kalman(or something like that) got a bunch of attention while developing a game and continued attention afterwards, that was despite Kalman not knowing how to play the game or what the point of it or the goal/win condition was. It was called "Sentris" and was a music/tetris hybrid except none of that matters, drop the pieces wherever you like, maybe you can make a nice pattern idk also they make sounds so make a melody? Oh that's not going to happen.
