The Furby Community - Because robots in fursuits are serious business.

That seems to explain Dobson pretty well.

Maybe he's into Furbies too.
Hmmmm....

TBH, I feel kinda bad for those who really enjoy Furbies to this day, wanted to have a community and then they get... this...
Sure, it is autistic as hell to play with Furbies these day. However, it is nothing harmful to the world around them. Why can't SJW just leave other people playing with their autistic hellspawns alone?

Looking at some of the furbies for sale they aren't properly stored to sell. A lot of them are asking for hundreds of dollars when they've been out of the box for years. Not saying they've abused them but in any collector's community this kind of stuff needs to be maintained properly to have any sort of value.

I agree with you completely, but people like furbae don’t care about the box and genuinely want to own every single one produced regardless of condition. There’s also people involved in the community that like keeping them out of the box to play with (like children) or restore fucked up ones/make “customs” out of those damaged ones.

There's lots to cover, but my favorite tidbit you didn't mention is furbae's favorite furby, Swampy, who's been very poorly kept and deterorated heavily over the course of about five years.

Swampy circa 2013:

That thing looks like its been nakey humped by chris chan while screaming JULAYYYYYY

Yesssss I was wondering if this thread would happen ever since I was made aware of this shitshow via these posts. There’s a bit more to the furbae story there, too.

One thing to note is that ‘longer furby’ isn’t just a one-off. That’s a thing for some reason and crazies will pay big bucks for them.

:offtopic: The last time I thought about Furbies was when the game "Tattletail" came out. It was a FNAF-esque horror game revolving around a furby creature that's haunted. :offtopic:

Of COURSE the fandom still exists, nothing on the internet ever truly dies.

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people who were in the Tattletail community migrated to the Furby fandom - hence why it's more cancerous than ever before.

The first signs of SJW in the community was several months before Tattletail's release. While it's not a completely unbelievable theory (and there might indeed be some members of the fandom who discovered Furby via Tattletail), I do recall a couple fansites ranting about how the game will only continue to push the terrible narrative that Furby is Satan's minion and they must all be exterminated.

Those posts should be linked in the OP for sure, they're a goldmine of info. Especially the kid who allegedly had a psychotic break and started posting videos of themselves treating their Furbies like they were real animals. The fuck.

A lot of people in this thread have been questioning how Furbies of all things got such an insane fandom, and here's my two cents: Back in the golden age of Tumblr drama, every fandom had a bunch of people who wanted to portray themselves as fragile uber-mentally ill snowflakes with a chronic oversharing problem. Crytyping and kin drama ran rampant. Divisions between adults and kids didn't matter, because any adult who willingly exposed themselves to this was a manchild by default. You can see it in some of the vintage cows of the Tumblr forum, like Vade and Nemu, who both fashioned themselves as adult ringleaders of impressionable teenagers. All of this eventually fell apart when the sheer self-destructive idiocy of it all became too much to bear; it was apparent even on the inside that for every genuinely mentally ill person in their ranks, there were three or four LARPers trying to get free attention and manipulate people.

Nowadays, most Tumblr fandoms have turned their backs on this behavior. People are hyper-vigilant about pedos and escapism to a fault. But that doesn't mean it's disappeared - it's just gone underground, specifically into "kidcore" and its related communities, where obsessing over stuff from your childhood is kosher, and refusing to grow up is the name of the game. It's such a strange, niche hobby that very few sane people would even know it exists, and that leaves the crazies plenty of room to fester.
