I rather enjoy people thinking we have a body count. It reminds me of a short story where humanity’s capital ship makes first contact with an alien patrol craft. Our message gets scrambled and the aliens freak out, fire a shot at our ship killing three people and we immediately retreat.
After that rumor runs rampant through the other space fairing species of this new and terrible threat (humanity) which destroyed dozens of vessels in moments despite us coming off worse during the actual engagement.
Humanity is seen as cruel yet not uncompromising and we accept our role as the boogeyman of the universe.

We need somebody with an expertise in statistics to plot the correlation between "having all kinds of weird dogshit in your Twitter name" and "being a complete fucknugget." A Bohr atom, a 1960s transistor radio, a spade and that's not even half of 'em. I'll bet it approaches 1.o given a large enough sample.
