In the article i linked there was an update dated to November 15th stating that the feature had been delayed to next year. Theyre vague over why exactly but i suspect theyre having database issues since they want accounts to keep and be able to switch back to names they previously had.

They also dont mention whether or not any accounts on the public build have gone through testing.

Account name changes were announced as an upcoming feature in SL back in March of this year, however it doesnt seem to be available to the SL public yet.

I believe he tried to run a fantasy forum that never got off the ground or maybe was just a proof of concept as well
