I'm still wondering how he has 14K Subscribers, less than 200 viewers per video and zero patrons. I've seen deader-than-dead, past their prime YouTubers with better view:sub ratios.

Edit: It was 12K subscribers actually but my point still stands.

That was my initial thought, certainly. So I checked it out on Socialblade and here's what I found.

So, the key to using Sub-bots is to fake "Natural growth". Buying several thousand Sub-bots and having them all engaged in the same day can look very suspicious to YouTube moderation. So a pile of Sub-bots accumulate within the span of... say, a year.

One thing that did foil this seemingly foolproof plan was YouTube's "Bot" purge in 2016. Most big-name channels lost thousands of subscribers that had weird or suspicious activity. In usual YouTube fashion, they overdid it and also purged channels that didn't post videos and subscribed to lots of channels. But most (honest) channels just continued trending upwards, only suffering a collective loss in subscriber counts, no big deal.

PewDiePie (for example, first channel I thought of) did not not Sub-bot, He just lost inactive channels or subscribers that showed suspicious, bot-like activity.

Now here's the interesting part. I checked the same time-frame from AzureTranquility's channel: It looks a bit different.

As you can see, he suffered a similar loss in subscribers from the same period, but check at around August of 2016 now.

It goes up, within one day, to nearly the exact same number as it went down two months ago. (That extra one was probably a real subscriber). How does that happen unless it's those purged accounts being replenished in a panicked speed to keep up with demand?

Weird statistics like these sure does activate those almonds.
