1. Christmas and New Year's Eve. Mostly for the free shit on Christmas.
2. Cold winter walks/runs. I've been running at night when it's not icy.
3. Trips to somewhere warm.
Things I like about winter:
Christmas, my birthday and there being snow when it's cold because then there's a fucking reason for it to be cold.
Summer sucks cause it's too fucking hot, but I did enjoy going to the beach a lot last summer so I guess swimming is my summer like. My only summer like.
Winter: I get to burn lots of trees in my fireplaces and the flames look pretty. Plus, the warming effect is lovely. Early morning fog over the river makes for some stunning views. I also get to look incredibly stylish in my winter apparel.
As I walk outside at 3AM and trudge through snow that hasn't got a single footprint before mine, pristine dancing snowflakes glisten under the streetlights and the moon turns a billion of them into a field of diamonds. Sitting on a swing and hearing the cold iron of its chains creak is the only sound for miles since only a weirdo would be out and about in frosty weather at night. For a few moments the absence of heat is absolutely beautiful and it's all mine.
1. Getting to wear my pea coat
2. Deer season
3. Renewing my spirituality by bargaining with God during a violent ice storm
It's cold as hell, everyone becomes a worse driver in rain and snow, and everyone breaks out the comfort food and alcohol when you're trying to avoid those things. Eat a dick, old man winter!
For summer I'm looking forward to:
1. Motorcycle riding
2. Sleeveless shirts
3. Not freezing my nads off
1. Way less daylight
2. No sweating
3. I'm way more active in the winter
I guess for summer...
1. Better seasonal fruit
2. Night time is kinda nice. Sometimes
3. Some interesting plants and bugs to look at
But I hate the sun beating down on me and getting sweaty. I have to take an umbrella with me. Mosquitoes and those damn bitey green flies. Summer was so damn hot that I had to go grocery shopping at 6am several times. And it was already getting unbearable within an hour. I can take the 20s fine. I have a really good winter coat. But once it gets past 80 I really can't stand it. Honestly, these days 75 seems a bit much sometimes depending on the sun. During that nasty cold snap we had last December it was like 10 degrees and I just put on a ton of layers and couldn't feel a damn thing once I got outside. But it it's like 98 outside I am gonna fry even if I ran out naked. The cold is just easier because you can dress well. with the heat all you can do is wear less clothes but still be too hot. Then you go inside and the AC makes you freeze.
