This is all based upon pre-existing data. All evidence is that Social Justice will follow the exact decline as every other movement that precededed it. Steps that have already happened are going to be in green, ones in the process of happening are yellow, ones about to happen are orange, and ones going to happen down the line are red.
1. Systemic Losses
The death of Social Justice begins with losses. The first step in a group like it starting to collapse is breaking its back. Because Social Justice is heavily leader-focused, and tends to attract people who are out of their fucking minds, they tend to lose when they face organized resistance - whether it's from people who simply won't be shamed or people willing to insult them openly. Once they're chimping, their greatest strength - social networking - is easily turned against them, and no amount of echo chambering is enough to soften the blows.
Anyone who follows Social Justice on the Farms will know it's been one loss after another with these groups for years: First, Social Justice lost to a bunch of fucking spergs who play Vidya. They tried to frame this los as anything but what it was (unmitigated disasters for their own side, ones that went on to make several in their own camp "wake up" and turn on the cult), but the truth was obvious to anyone looking:
They lost. While the big "names" in Social Justice lost a lot - their careers (Chipman, Dina, Rapp, etc), professional reputation (Wu, Quinn, Gallant, Nyberg), and more, the GG spergs had lost
absolutely nothing because the spergs were already labelled Satan by the establishment (thus having nowhere downward to go), and moreover, no reason to give a shit what other people thought. The result was Social Justice doubling down, claiming a win when they didn't actually have one, and declaring that Gamergate was being enabled by people talking about it and thus showing that everyone hates women (somehow).
GG didn't in any way cause or enable Trump's candidacy, but it painted the perfect picture of Social Justice's biggest weak points and how to fight them, which is why Brexit punched them so hard in the dick. Then, as now, we saw hand-wringing, whinging, and arguments that it was the end of days. None of that proved true and his, again, woke people up - and again, the result was Social Justice doubling down and getting even crazier in pursuit of ideological purity, arguing that Brexit happened because of Islamophobia and racism, when everyone familiar knew the reason was shit like Rotherham and Cologne.
The loss of Hillary is the
second time they've lost using this candidate (the first time was to the scary black man that they openly hated), and the third time they've gotten openly crushed to this degree. All the fearmongering they used - over Gamergate, and then again over Brexit - didn't do jack and shit because so many people had seen this same tactic used over and over and over again for years. The result has been, again, more doubling down, this time to the point where they've chased away too many of the filthy normies and have nobody to blame but the faithful at this point.
2.Circular Firing Squads
The dust is settling from the election, but these people are looking, desperately, for someone to scapegoat. Social Justice is a land of moral absolutism; you're either good or bad, and good means complete capitulation to the party line. But when the party line leads to loss after loss, it gets harder to justify, especially when that party line migrates into Crazytown and begins with accusing
half the country of being racist and homophobic.
When the dust settles, and the group is faced with the realization that their own ideology led to the loss, they react differently depending on who is involved. Rank-and-file members will realize they were lied to, and fuck off for greener pastures or try to find a better way (becoming enemies of great SocJus in the process, of course). The true believers have no choice, as we've seen, but to double down, and this will inevitably lead to fracturing as the rank and file point out the obvious, which is that they're fucking losing. Inevitably, they will start looking for a scapegoat they can blame for the loss. It will start with blaming the usual suspects - Whitey and men in general - but that will soon lose effect because the victory clearly invovled Trump winning areas that defy this claim, such as women, minorities, and LGBT people. The fact that
Trump will not actually create an anti-homosexual laser satellite (surely to several Kiwis' disappointment) will further bring them rage because they're left without anything to attack directly - and that's where the hunt begins.
It's critical to note that unlike most grassroots groups, the likes of Social Justice is extremely reliant on force of personality and charismatic individuals (such as they are) to keep the plebs in line. Many SocJus leaders are practically lionized,
to the point where a picture of Anita Sarkeesian with a halo was a header on Gamerghazi for months. This central focus tends to result in very powerful leaders, but also acts as an Achilles' heel; if one of the group is discredited or caught doing something retarded, it forces them to circle the wagons and waste resources and time defending someone who by all accounts would have gotten cut loose anywhere else (Nyberg for instance), sacrificing their credibility in the process. If two "leaders" come into conflict - even just through skirmishing of their clique - the fallout is obvious.
Which of course brings us to where we're at right now. In a mad desire to stay relevant, the cliques will begin to make war with one another, blaming not-themselves for the loss - after all, it was all those filthy free-thinkers who wouldn't simply accept the bullshit line about Trump hating women. Meanwhile another camp will blame BLM for its anti-police shit, and another will blame the DNC for coronating Hillary and screwing the democratic electorate. It's complete pandemonium as the usual suspects fight a desperate losing battle to maintain their power structures as the alliance they so carefully built-up over the last few years starts to crumble. On DailyKos right now, for example,
there's been dozens of threads essentially declaring that Bernie was right and the DNC was retarded, agitating the userbase to a pants-shitting rage, but they can't silence the sheer volume of dissent. As the infighting starts, the ability to narrative-push dies and one of the key strengths of the group is lost.
3. The Purges Begin
This is where the chimpouts start to go nuclear. We've already started to see a bit of it, with people blaming other groups outright and skirmishing with one another on Social Media, and the assassination threats mean this is about to hit full burn. As they circle and desperately look for anything to blame for the loss, the inevitable will happen: Their own safespaces will become coffins. They'll echo chamber hard - just like their predecessors did - on private forums where a handful of people will believe what they say without question and they can exhibit dictatorial control, Vade-style, over a tiny shred of followers. This will do nothing for their public image which will continue to deteriorate as the faithful act more and more fucking crazy, alienating more fucking normies. A few will get nice visits from those men in black with sunglasses who want to know why they just advocated killing American citizens.
Eventually even mildly critical voices will be chased out, leading to CON-style leaks and subsequently even bigger chimp-outs. The wars between the cliques will intensify and soon they'll be at one another's throats, abandoning whatever the fuck they originally purported to care about in favor of waging a campaign of terror to gain some small shred of their old power and influence, believing that if they can achieve some level of ideological purity, they'll be vindicated. It never works.
The smarter ones will take the money and run, and quit the field before things get worse; cannier ones may try to spin it to their advantage, but the crabs-in-a-bucket mentality
will kick in, and they'll be just as jealous of one another and grasping for power as they were before. They'll take pot-shots at one another; they'll blame one another, and in some cases, they'll go full Chloe Sagal.
This leads to a constant climate of fear, and soonafter, the communities will lie abandoned, save for the true faithful.
Finally, the worst part comes: Without any ability to control the narrative, their biggest asset has been lost, and at this point the money starts to leave as well. This spells certain death because without the influx of cash, the agenda pushing
doesn't fucking happen, save from the crazies, further damning them. This leaves the true believers as the only holders of "the message," and leads to the last step.
4. The Collapse
Here, specifically, is where the end is.
Social Justice in its final phase dies with a whimper, ultimately being reduced to nothing more than a living meme, same as the Christian Coalition, Tea Party, and Occupy before it, and
for the exact same reasons - being co-opted by people who are certifiable nutcases and have zero credibility whatsoever. Whether it was the Christian Coalition's members getting caught soliciting gay sex (to the point where it was a meme decades ago), to the the Tea Party becoming synonymous with Orly Taitz, to
the Occupy movement finding the two most fucking insane people on the planet to send as representatives to talk to the press, this step is the one that marks the end of anyone to take them seriously.
By this point the money has dried up, they've been abandoned by the establishment and left to wither away, and the bulk of their leadership, central to their operations, has fucked off to greener pastures or become so crazy that they're practically memes in and of themselves, if not Lolcows.
They will not be missed, except as something to ridicule.
