If I were him (glad every single day that I'm not) I'd give up the ghost on games and the line of bullshit that I care in the slightest about playing videogames because nobody believes it anyway. I'd do exactly what Tevin does: Watch my catalogue of old shit and comment on it. Then you've got a guy watching another guy watching himself.. Philception? Throw in some IRL streaming as well. His videogame junk is the worst part of the show these days anyways and taking the controller out of his hands and letting him pretend he's playing them might see a 5% spike in brain activity as he sits there with nothing but a blank expression and a goat laugh as his kahmedy routine.

The only thing that matters to Phil is that he keeps his slob lifestyle. There's still a financial incentive for him playing videogames as long as idiots like Emerald keep giving him cash. A number of full-time streamers do it for lesser amounts than what Phil gets, so the money is still there. What Phil gets more than pays for the bills. It allows him to maintain two properties, a car, the best internet he can get, multiple consoles, the latest games each month, and subscriptions to a number of streaming services, among other things.

His justification for North Korean chat... I can say with 100% certainty that I have NEVER heard another streamer threaten to end their stream simply because they weren’t the center of attention.

If Phil had ANY sense, he would use topics he’s unfamiliar with to act as a catalyst for conversation, not expect his drones to be focused on him and his games and keep the conversation limited to that.

Blows me away.

I doubt very much that it’s the handholding he’s worried about... I’m sure the entire chat would be willing to tell him exactly how to play through every single game he’s ever picked up... I think it has more to do with CHEERING to hold his hand. If he’s not getting money and he’s desperate enough he will start to read free messages. However, as we saw with grazydream when Dark returned to Minecraft, if he ignores all the free shit eventually someone will give him $0.50-$1.00 for each and every SINGLE, SOLITARY STEP.

I was thinking about this the other day; when he had Kat on stream, why didn't he let her play while he did commentary/ran the chat? We know he hates playing, and he'd still be the center of attention, and Kat wouldn't be exposed to the trolls.

Instead they both sit quietly because he can't play and talk, and she thinks it's boring.

This actually touches on one of the funnier/sadder Phil traits, he still has a high schooler mentality when it comes to the importance of video games. He genuinely thinks he is some video gaming prodigy because he's so prideful and lacks any real skills it is the only thing he can hold onto. Just being the center of attention isn't enough for Phil, he has to be seen as the best, and he's delusional enough to convince himself everyone is there to see how good he is at video games. I think part of the reason he wouldn't let her play is, in his pigroach mind, he'd be shooting himself in the foot and everyone will leave since they're largely there to see him excel at gaming, but I also think part of it is that lingering resentment towards John Rambo, where he was better at games and got more attention. I'm sure Phil would make up some excuse though because he's so deep in denial about it, much like everything else in his life, including him being good at games in general.

His inventories (historically) are a reflection of how organized he is in real life. His inventories in Souls games are always filled to the brim with crap,and the idea of organizing in games would take away from his fiery pro game-play. In the same way he would rather sit in dust rather than make the effort to clean up his space.

Granted he will clean if forced to, but he would really rather just live like a recluse.

Now he's just bitching about the gimmick of the fight, barrier change, that changes Golbez's weakness every time you hit his current weakness. Naturally, the game is now FUCHKING STOOOOPID.

I quit playing FF games like 10 years ago cause the mechanics are kind of rote and get boring.

I really need to emphasize here how straight-forward this battle is supposed to be--the whole point of it is that a character who disappeared a while back has returned and is now more of a badass. This is revealed by way of her summon magic overpowering the big bad's summon magic before it can wipe the party. Then she drops into the party and the actual fight starts. How someone could witness this happen and then not use the summons blows my fucking mind. If you read the strategy guide link up there, it literally points out that 3 summons should more or less do the trick, as long as you match the weakness.

He's been doing this all year in honor of his dad, who suddenly passed away earlier this year from a heart attack.

So if you're heated about Phil (and I know it gets me occasionally), just let it slide. It's not worth it, and there's plenty of actual positive stuff out there.
