Honestly, I did at one time really hate Phil but now I'm just beyond caring. He's such a caricature that he hardly seems real and granted there's many more people deserving of ~$10k but getting angry won't solve it. He lives a shitty life in a shitty set of circumstances, alone and up to his bingo-wings in debt with no friends or anything because of the pit he has dug himself. He's like a circus side-show that pulls in everything good and shits out spergy rants and making a total tit of himself. He's the laughing stock of the internet and his name is forever tarnished with his own shit, you could almost pity him if he weren't such a self-involved nut. I have as much feeling of Phil as I do for a lab rat because that's all he really is, nothing more than the product of an unintentional social experiment.

Agreed. 100%. Tactfully put, also, like a decent human being, and really puts this all into perspective. Guys like me who have found themselves actually getting angry at this guy's actions do so (or Ill only speak for myself here) BECAUSE we recognize he's not a very good or decent person to those he relies on for his livelihood, his parents, his old friends he used, and stooping down and wallowing in his pigpen won't make him any less filthy, it just makes us dirty too.

I, myself checked back in on ol' darksfadil and the farms for some laughs to get away from actual real life stress and problems, family, etc, but it's had the opposite effect because even the hilarious folks of the farms, tevin, etc can't always offset the repulsive nature of DSP enough and I just realized some of my frustration I came here to escape a while was seeping into and informing my posts, so I'm just going to step back a bit from that. Thanks, FGS for the perspective.

I wore out my voice so I can't eat a hamburger.

The real story is he was too lazy. He will just do it live on the day. Kind of like how he didn't look into how to set up wrestling matches until right before his stream started and was late. And then he messed up on a live stream and had his audience look at nothing while he let a match play out because he didn't know what he was doing. Like how people asked him how his top 10 games video was coming along and he said he didn't even start making a list yet. Or how he promised Project 7 and then confessed he hadn't done a single thing to work on it.

This is why Emerald 7's donations are so baffling. Why would anyone give this guy a dollar, let alone thousands of dollars, when he puts zero effort into anything?

Hes not gonna get drunk. Im sure he'll drink a few shots, but if he's as much a wino as suspected, I mean the dude could drink about 8 shots in a few hours and be fine. He's one of those people who, especially as he is, is terrified of getting drunk and letting their facade slip and saying something mean, shitty or offensive.

Drunk streams are popular on twitch, but usually theyre camgirl gamers, not least because hot college aged twenty-something girls getting fucked up and just completely smashed is cute and quirky, party girl shit (so long as they arent the type to start just incoherently screaming and melting down, you can be a little annoying and obnoxious but you cross a line--imagine Lindsay Ellis when she's wasted, I imagine she's the type to get obnoxious and start yelling and hitting people, it's one thing to be like "Wooo Im drunk and Im doing silly shit for attention!" but some girls just melt the fuck down when theyre too far gone), but watching grown men, or even college aged dudes do it, people think that's kind of immature and they should know better and stop playing around. Youre expected to hold your shit even if youre puking and joking around with silly shit, it's like some machismo bullshit.

If he were a decent guy, or even somewhat charismatic or funny, it might be interesting to see him loosen up but you know it's just gonna be him screaming "Nooooooo! I put too much ketchup in this meatloaf and now Im flailing around and knocked over all this shit!" He wouldnt even do silly shit in games, and if he did, you wouldnt even know he was trying to be creative, interesting or funny, you would just wonder if he was that bad at the game, drunk or not.

I think one of the reasons he does the "drunk" thing is because of how young the majority of his audience is. Him pretending to be drunk is the type of impression you'd see from a 13 year old who has at best a vague understanding of what being drunk is from sitcoms/comedy movies where it's portrayed as whacky hijink juice that kind of slurs your voice and makes you say/do random hilarious things. In reality, we've seen actual drunk Phil via gin fueled tweets. I think Phil has just enough intelligence to recognize his filter goes when he's been drinking and he'd shoot himself in his gout ridden foot if he actually got plastered on stream. It's actually too bad, because I'd be curious to see what Phil has to say without the twitter character limit. Phil tends to ramble and takes forever to get to the point, so imagine what an actual drunk Phil would sound like if he was "interacting" with his chat and getting baited by trolls. Actually, even if chat was troll free, I think he'd go off on his regulars, sober Phil is barely able to hide his contempt for them.

Unrelated note, but does anyone else get the feeling Phil's losing his voice thing is going to be his new go to excuse in 2019? He's already mentioned it quite a few times, and I could see him building on it to claim he needs to take extra days off to let his voice rest and vaguely implying that him talking so much is causing health issues, which is why it's even more important everyone tips him right now because he's working so hard and sacrificing so much to bring quality content.

I hope I quoted this properly, and to the right person(s) but what you just said is the reason I ended up here and made a profile... I started watching DSP detractors through reviewtechusa detractors (around the time RTU was blocked by DSP on twitter for clogging up his big boy "business" feed, and RTU's rants about it (via ReviewHellUsa or one of those) and then found Tevin, etc and DSP *VERY* quickly went from a goofy, fun to laugh at sometimes "character" to someone that genuinely makes me angry. Just the absolute worst, scumfuck sleazy man baby thin skinned bastard who has no redeemable traits anymore and treats his viewers and peepul who support his entire life like garbage... this miserable bastard who has physically transformed into a "sad clown" (seriously, look at what's left of his "goatee" coupled with his miserable pout he has any time he's not actively getting money and Google "sad clown" and you'll see what I mean.

Seriously, fuck this guy.

If you let yourself hate Dark, you're no better than Dark. He's just a pathetic clown dancing for dollars. Nothing more, nothing less.

This is ultimately why he's not worth the energy people put in to hating him. He just lives from crisis to crisis, he's never going to actually be able to retire and he's fucked himself so badly financially that eventually everything is going to crumble. He lives a joyless life doing a job he clearly hates that doesn't even have a stable salary attached to it and has no promotion prospects either.

I can easily see future Phil trying to cut the line at a soup kitchen while screaming about his YouTube/Twitch legacy. In the end someone will take pity on the old fool and google him and see that the only thing he's known for is jerking off on camera and that'll be it, another community where he's known only as a joke to be pitied.

He's the Jar Jar Binks of the internet, except far more narcissitic.

Exactly, the best thing about Phil is that he's so truly repugnant that I can never bring myself to feel sorry for him, so it's always funny when he fucks his own life up. He got a golden ticket that he's been slowly squandering for 8+ years and he knows it, and it's so compelling because he deserves it. Chris-chan is different because he's way funnier just on his autistic content alone, but Phillie's funny because he's slowly killing himself and his business while being an asshole and refusing any responsibility.
