The only thing that matters to Phil is that he keeps his slob lifestyle. There's still a financial incentive for him playing videogames as long as idiots like Emerald keep giving him cash. A number of full-time streamers do it for lesser amounts than what Phil gets, so the money is still there. What Phil gets more than pays for the bills. It allows him to maintain two properties, a car, the best internet he can get, multiple consoles, the latest games each month, and subscriptions to a number of streaming services, among other things.



He needs his handholding to progress through a lot of games. He doesn't want to be found out looking at YouTube walkthroughs so he relies on chat to help him. Kinda hard to get those advice if the chat's inundated with non-game-related content.

And watching rather than playing games only enhances just how much of a slob he can afford to be. What kind of gaming experience does he enjoy most these days? If you put something braindead to the side like some low effort "interactive session" game like COD's Blackout mode.. I'd say it's obvious he actually gets something out of his wrestling match sims because wrestling is about the only thing he can maintain a hard on for these days. He likes talking over a game that literally plays itself while he pretends to be Jim Ross in a fiercely contested sped bout between Ronald McDonald and the Michelin Man.

They'd still pay to sit and watch him talk garbage over his old playthroughs because that open sewer in the middle of his face has always been his meal ticket not the games. In fact if he did this you'd at least get footage of a time when he actually halfway enjoyed this job instead of the rote and insufferable experience he subjects people to today.

Somewhere along the line he convinced himself of many things that just aren't true; that people still care about any game he's playing remains one of them. I'd say it's that and a combination of fear and laziness that stops him from ever trying anything different. He hates change.. that's why he's been wearing the same Blanka shirt for 8 years and can't reconcile even within himself that it's not 2012 anymore. To change you need to admit you're doing something wrong afterall.

Also he has no qualms at all about using guides or chat babysitting him these days I dunno where you get that idea at all unless you don't watch him anymore and are going by old footage - in which case I don't even blame you because I rarely ever do either.

I personally don't watch wrestling or know anything about it, but from what other people say about "Smark Guys" DSP and Rambo's wrestling show, Phil just parroted other peoples wrestling comments. He had nothing insightful to add. The quality was bottom of the barrel. Kind of like how his game commentary is, "Look, the thing that happened on screen just happened! Look!".

I used to watch it years ago and wrote columns for a popular site and can confirm nothing he said through any of his time on that show was enlightening at all. "Smark" is industry/fan slang for someone who's well informed about many aspects of the business and DSP isn't even well-informed about his own bizness nevermind anyone else's.

He just liked doing the show because it was something to do with a buddy and also I'm sure he liked sounding as though he was some kind of authority on the subject because DSP is an expert in pretty much everything he's ever done if you care to ask him about it.

Reason he wouldn't have a wrestling themed show today I guess is.. the format of doing it live and having an audience who probably know more than him about it wouldn't suit him because they'd flag his bullshit like they always do where Rambo would just let him ramble away for the sake of the overall "product". And again he hates change.. any messing with schedule or formula makes him throw a fit at the first sign he's ever losing money and then he routinely blames anyone that suggested the idea to him in the first place.

Yeah, his self awareness is in the red. He’s so grateful for the support, and he shows it by not even remembering E7’s name at first, gave him a really half assed thank you, and proceeded to lie and say he’s nowhere near the goal of money he needs to get.

I am slowly but surely growing to genuinely hate Phil. Like, an actual searing rage. I’m so fucking stoked that I got some new shit (for myself, because you know, I actually pay my rent and my electric bill, etc.) and that I’m gonna have a new game to play for the first time in like a year.

I’m still gonna read all about it, because of course I would. But for my own sanity I’m staying FAR AWAY from Dark’s streams.

The only thing any of us can do for Christmas is to live your life. Phil may have made $12k+ just in December alone, but I’m far more grateful for my family and friends. Phil has nothing but a supposed girlfriend who has been making him sleep on the couch, that he’s been getting so much worse when it comes to drinking (falling after standing up off the couch), and days come and days go. With every passing day, Phil is losing his self respect, and he slowly but surely becomes more emotionally unstable.

The only thing that I know for sure is that I’m surprised Phil hasn’t thought about or talked about offing himself. It’s a legit scenario I’ve thought of in my head, and since he’s terrified of guns he’s gonna have to axe into his femoral artery and bleed out.

Even the wrestlers he downloaded for his Sim were mostly from the "most downloaded Community Creations"-page.

To create storylines and good WWE content actually takes a lot of effort.

Dave would probably just recreate WWE's shitty product and brand it as his creations.

I hope I quoted this properly, and to the right person(s) but what you just said is the reason I ended up here and made a profile... I started watching DSP detractors through reviewtechusa detractors (around the time RTU was blocked by DSP on twitter for clogging up his big boy "business" feed, and RTU's rants about it (via ReviewHellUsa or one of those) and then found Tevin, etc and DSP *VERY* quickly went from a goofy, fun to laugh at sometimes "character" to someone that genuinely makes me angry. Just the absolute worst, scumfuck sleazy man baby thin skinned bastard who has no redeemable traits anymore and treats his viewers and peepul who support his entire life like garbage... this miserable bastard who has physically transformed into a "sad clown" (seriously, look at what's left of his "goatee" coupled with his miserable pout he has any time he's not actively getting money and Google "sad clown" and you'll see what I mean.

I'm leaning towards no.

Any stream he does he can talk for 20-90 minutes about any random negative or perceived slight against him, and sound like a totally ungrateful & cynical elderly person who is in a nursing home unhappy with how life unfolded for them

I mean he pretty much won a small lottery this with with some $8-12k gifted to him, and he STILL can find 10 reasons 'things are tight' or he is 'nervous' or the detractors bring him down etc...

He clings to his pathetic internet 'fame', gout-mansion & soul mate as material signs of success; and he can gloat about these to his faceless viewers instead of real friends, and feel superior as he watches WWE & drinks a gin at 130am after sending out his last insulting tweet for the day

Money seems to give him temporary happiness, but it is fleeting; so he needs more daily.

It's a sad cycle.

Hopefully the writers can bring in some more tension. I think the show is best when the main character is under pressure; and the more the better

RE: The DSP Wrestling show idea

I had wondered this myself after noticing it's one of the only things he ever mentions enjoying in life, outside of lame generalized crap (usually in that insufferable quiet "Bob Ross Dsp" voice) like "a nice relaxing evening just hanging out with Kat", and thought "why doesn't he TRY a podcast or stream where he talks about wrestling?

I've never seen any eps of Smart Guys (I can imagine John Rambo carried them, though, to any semblance of "quality") and maybe even Phil is aware that he's ruined games for himself and is protective of wrestling in fear that making it another "job" would ruin his last remaining passion, but you're all probably exactly right. I was giving him WAY too much credit: it's more laziness, a fear of change and terror that he might have to take a hit money wise for a while to build up a new audience. In other words, the same old shit with Phil, mainly money.

I also think he would be terrified of having a whole new audience outside of his pig cult and even though he could possibly put his insufferable, repulsive traits to use as a "heel" character on a show like that, he knows he wouldn't be able to banter and play that role out because he's in no way "The King Of Hate" he thinks he is.

What seems like a no-brainer for anyone else, especially with a 10 year headstart and built in audience to work with in a time when wrestling podcasts are arguably bigger than the actual wrestling shows they're dedicated to talking about, a wave Phil could at least TRY to ride...instead its yet another "nothing I could do!" situation that boils down to his lazy, scared, crybaby ineptitude which is the only thing that ever stands in his way of monetizing *anything*, otherwise he would in a heartbeat.

Honestly, I did at one time really hate Phil but now I'm just beyond caring. He's such a caricature that he hardly seems real and granted there's many more people deserving of ~$10k but getting angry won't solve it. He lives a shitty life in a shitty set of circumstances, alone and up to his bingo-wings in debt with no friends or anything because of the pit he has dug himself. He's like a circus side-show that pulls in everything good and shits out spergy rants and making a total tit of himself. He's the laughing stock of the internet and his name is forever tarnished with his own shit, you could almost pity him if he weren't such a self-involved nut. I have as much feeling of Phil as I do for a lab rat because that's all he really is, nothing more than the product of an unintentional social experiment.
