I really have no idea how Jake expects people to respond to these tweets. It's not like anyone can even just swing by his place to pick him up and take him out for a movie or a meal without the whole fiction he tries to maintain being shattered.

There are people suddenly widowed who rebuild their lives. There are people who lose everything in war or disasters and rebuild. Last week I saw a documentary about a quadruple amputee who goes mountaineering. Jake loses some friends who weren’t even close to him, who even he admits treated him badly, and has to go into social stasis.

The saddest part is, people are willing to help him and offer a listening ear. He could have new friends. But he doesn’t want them. He wants to continue demanding something he will never have forever.
