Every time they get so insistent that the wall is completely useless because "undocumented" immigrants will just find new ways to destroy it or get around it, I can't help but think 'Aren't these the people you insist are perfect law-abiding angels but also insist will do whatever it takes to break immigration law?'

It's just to run the argument in a circle and tire you out so you give up.

I've seen the same pleas made about how there's no point in building a wall because there's nothing to stop someone from getting a visa and overstaying.

And when you then suggest maybe we should find and deport those who overstay their visas on purpose? - "Why? Without a wall, they'll just walk back in"

And then you suggest building a wall and, nope, back to the top.....

It stopped being a limited-time nation-wide menu item like 2014 or something, but still existed as a regional item well after taken off the national menu. The McDonald's in a city I visited regularly, which likely would have have the same supply chain as McDonalds in Chicago, was selling them as late as 2016 - they might still have them. So quite possibly Chocolate Jesus was trying to order something he would have been able to get back home in Chicongo.

The excuse is Congress sends members to areas, foreign and domestic, that the US is involved in or is likely to be involved in so they can write an unbiased report for congress about what the situation actually looks like, so informed legislation can be passed. This mission is what got Rep. Leo Ryan killed - he was investigating Jonestown. This is not a new practice; congress has a long practice of not trusting what our diplomats have to say about international affairs, and believing that since diplomats are appointed that the people should be given real assessments of situations by their elected representatives.
Additionally, Congress members have a bit more latitude to be blunt in their reports than if it was from diplomatic/state department sources. If Rep. Adams writes a report that says 'Durkistan is a fucked up genocidal hellhole' this will likely pass unnoticed. If the American Diplomat to Durkistan writes a report that says Durkistan is a fucked up genocidal hellhole, this will cause international relations issues.

Anyway, I like the use of the word "civilian" there, as if to say that military personnel are perfectly legitimate political pawns and abuse victims.
