There is a psychology theory that synchronization between group members increases social cohesion, and is a big part of the reason ritualistic/ performance behaviour evolved in many early tribal cultures. Music, specifically rhythm, would act as a way to engage in synchronous behaviour. Benefits being a better bonded group has less chance of mutiny, and can work together better to hunt and compete with other tribes. Strange and interesting idea.

So it's kinda like kumbaya except only within group, fuck the other tribes. Antifa behaves similarly in terms of their group dynamics (before they cannibalize each other, another tribal trait they share)

Math is not a cultural universal. The Piraha tribe of the Amazon and IIRC a few other hunter-gatherer tribes don't have any system for counting and their entire "math" system is based on the words "few", "some", and "many". However (anarchists should take note), violence, morality, law, religion, and some sort of hierarchy/respect for your betters are cultural universals found in every group known in human history.
