Tropers speak in 'trope speak' even when talking about real life??Are they capable of thinking outside of tropes in real life? Its also quite telling how obsessed they are with race when you notice that the race-privilege forum has 778 pages???Also its quite funny to read up on the stuff they write.
Traumatizing as the past couple of centuries may have been, "White culture" is not a thing that has existed for much of human civilization and is a new phenomenon. It also smashes together a lot of very independent civilizations into one banner with very tenuous links. The French, Macedonian, and Roman Empires are not "white" Empires save via Retcon.
Apparently 'white culture' is not an old phenomenon.I guess there were no humans living in Europe 3000 years ago.And the Roman Empire was not a white empire?I guess Trajan and Hadrian were black or indian.I'm actually curious who taught them this crap.Seriously are these people even mildly educated when it comes to history or is all of it coming from Buzzfeed?

  • Anime and manga have many Wholesome Crossdressers, Bifauxnens, androgynous men, and androgynous women. Many of these characters might dress or act a certain way but they're intended to be cisgender. There are comparatively far fewer explicitly transgender characters. Fans, especially western fans, often get confused on these characters gender identities due to a combination of Values Dissonance, mixed messages in the writing (including making the mistake that Trans Equals Gay), and language barriers. This can lead to characters having an Ambiguous Gender Identity. As a result of the popularity of crossdressing boys in anime, many western fans assume explictly transgender characters are crossdressers and it's only western fans who assume otherwise. After Lily from Zombie Land Saga was revealed to be trans, there was a controversy about whether the episode meant to imply she was a trans girl or whether, similarly to Ryo from iDOLM@STER, she was intended to be an effeminate cisgender boy.

Pichu-kun (the troper who added this) is a confirmed trans kid sperg.

And Tropers continue to prove that they are the biggest pussies in the universe, while also treating these fictional characters as if they're real people.
The Adventure Mode folder in particular is spectacularly spergy to anyone that's above the age of 10.
The series ain't that scary to begin with. And the Ridley trailer felt that it was ripped out of cheap horror movie.

But I'm kind of disappointed that they didn't include this trailer.

It's another case where tropers put too much thought into what certain aspects would be like in real life.
I'm beginning to think tropers can't tell the difference between fiction and reality; it could also explain why they make such a big deal over "MEAN SPIRITED HUMOR!!!", and the cesspool that is DMoS.
It's only a matter of time before they declare their very own dimensional merge ala Chris Chan.

Well, Fast Eddie's hugbox rules are still around. Nearly everything political ends with OOMPA LOOMPA MADE MURICA SHIT AGAIN! Plus, did you see what happened to the Mass Effect 3 threads?

At this point, I have to ask why they can't just split DMoS into its own site like they did Troper Tales and Fetish Fuel.

I mean it's just as cancerous as those were.

Agreed, but it's only really that way because of the hugbox mentality which has exacerbated the problem.

Because of this, it's become a containment vessel, as it might be cancer, but while kept on site, it's keeping the cancer contained, as they fear (not unreasonably) that it's removal will tempt people to spew the bitching everywhere ELSE on the wiki.

Troper Tales and Fetish Fuel were easy to contain offsite because honestly, they were pretty off mission to begin with and easy to tamp down on, but removal of DMOS means all the other negative trope pages will because dumping grounds for discontent and making DMOS the place where people can rant reasonably unfettered serves as a Two Minutes Hate release valve for a place with Big Brother level "We WILL be happy around here" rules.

They're definition of "unexpected" is, once again, way too lenient for a wiki to tolerate.
Just to give the worse examples of this bullshit...
  • Out of the eight original starting characters, the most unexpected was very likely Fox McCloud, who was usually never seen outside of his Arwing and came from a somewhat more obscure franchise than the other seven.
  • Pikachu is nowadays obviously one of Nintendo’s most iconic characters, up there with Mario and Link, but at the time of the original game’s release, its inclusion was somewhat surprising as its franchise was only starting to take off in popularity.
  • Not too many people anticipated to play as Zelda, as she was almost exclusively an NPC in her home series with zero known combat skills. Even fewer expected Sheik, a one-off alter-ego of Zelda, whose identity was supposed to be a plot twist in Ocarina of Time.
  • Ditto with Peach, who's usually a Damsel in Distress with only one prior playable appearance in her series' main games at that time. Although at least she’s always playable in Mario spinoff titles, while Zelda hardly has any spinoffs for her to be playable in in the first place.
  • In the same vein, Young Link was this by virtue of not just being a second Link, but also the same as the existing Link.
  • Falco Lombardi, one of the core Star Fox members, was also quite unexpected due to him usually being an NPC in the Star Fox series.

  • Zero Suit Samus, since Samus had rarely ever been seen without her suit in Metroid games.
  • While Diddy Kong was a heavily requested character for the third game, most people assumed he would be featured as an Ice Climber-esque Tag Team fighter alongside Dixie Kong, so having him be playable on his own was rather unexpected.
  • Since Mario had more characters than any other franchise in Smash, Rosalina and Luma was hardly expected, especially over more established characters like Daisy and Waluigi.
Due to a fairly accurate leak detailing characters who would be appearing as newcomers (they consider Vergenbin a reliable source of leaks, FFS!)
  • A lot of people were expecting one of Simon's designs from Castlevania Chronicles or Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate, considering characters like Pit and Sonic all had their more modern designs for their respective debuts, and Bayonetta's sequel look was her default. This, in turn, made his revamped NES look come as a complete shock to those not expecting it.
  • Even the well-known series have their fair share of unexpected characters appearing as Spirits. Among the most surprising are Gamma (who was Killed Off for Real and already has a prominent Suspiciously Similar Substitute in the form of Omega), Werehog (who isn't exactly beloved by Sega, and is a Base-Breaking Character at best within the fanbase), Ness's Dad (who we never actually saw in Earthbound and still don't see in Smash; he's represented by a telephone), and Dash Bowman (whose game was declared non-canon and has largely been ignored by both Nintendo and Smash).
They should just change this "trope" name to "unexpected characters according to spergs that refuse to step outside their online hugboxes".

It's kind of funny how they don't understand what an major character is and how marketing works. Especially when the site is dedicated to documenting that kind of shit.

Oh boy I'd like to see their troper lingo-filled declaration of dimensional merge.

I love how Ridley is listed, despite ~20 years of fan demand, him being a major character in the Metroid series, as well as his popularity with fans. It wasn't a huge shock to see him added. Hell, his popularity and the fan demand were cited as the major reasons why he was added.

From Nichijou’s character page for Nano.

The only characters that were truly unexpected were Snake, Simon (only because of the current state of Konami moreso than anything else), Piranha Plant, and Bayonetta (due to doing various NSFW things).

I love how TVTropes is defending nu-Simpsons

They are some of the only people I've come across who will unironically defend Lisa.

I just...

Care Bears: Adventures in Care-a-Lot was a center of at least three known broken bases. To wit:
  • Canon foreigner and designated woobie Oopsy Bear. Feelings about him are split between "Want to cuddle him all the time" and "Stupid bear, don't like him". Didn't help that some fans also felt like he was put in to replace Good Luck Bear (he wasn't, it was just that Good Luck Bear was conveniently demoted to extra).
  • The demotion of Tenderheart Bear to extra and promotion of Cheer Bear to new leader. Likewise, Good Luck Bear only appearing in background.
  • The fact that the bears were redesigned to be less chubby. Feelings were split between "the redesign was long overdue" and "the redesign was uncalled for".

Even the fucking Baby Blues cartoon is "meeeeeeeen spirited!" to them.

And Meg abuse is funny. Don't @ me.
