Diseased TV Tropes community

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
There's also the implication that Tropers think the Smash team are really trying to cater to those e-sports gamers.
They kind of are though. The inclusion of OMEGA stages are a direct result of competitive players. Smash ultimate even has no-hazard variations of every stage along with battlefield variations for more super competitive play.
They haven't abandoned the casual audience, there are plenty of new items for those of us who just want to enjoy our chaotic party fighter, but there is a definite effort to please the competitive smashfags.

Oh but Channel Awesome is very scary.

The fact that Midnight Screenings, which is literally just Brad and his friends sitting in a car and talking about movies for 20 minutes, has it's own page is hilarious. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/NightmareFuel/MidnightScreenings

I'm fucking terrified, guys. I'm literally shaking.

I think tropers have grown up so cuddled and away from any risk factor that now that they're teens or adults everything scares them. That and the fact that they watched too many horror movies so whenever they see something that reminds them of some movie its scary.Either that or some tropers are trying to make a joke by playing up the supposed overuse of nightmare fuel.Unfortunately for them if its a joke its not really a funny one.Pretending to be an idiot with no advantage in return doesn't make you smart.

Plus every bad episode or cartoon is a horrible life-changing trauma. I've had spergs COMFORTING me when I told them I saw an ep of The Nutshack once when I was bored.

I'm pretty sure tropers aren't scared of things as much as their site gives an impression they are, but because of how obsessive about documenting things they are and with how subjective standards for what constitutes scary or heartwarming are, any pissbrain who can't come up with a new trope to add to media they obsess over, but hell-bent of contributing to page somehow can just call some scene scary or unsettling. Fridge Brilliance is for when you get some realisation about movie or book from years ago and really have to share your idiot epiphany. Half the shit in Headscrstchers and WMG is not hard to figure out or is just some bullshit. They really struggle enforcing standards with these because of subjectivity so no wonder everyone contributing sets the bar so low. It's like DeviantArt of media-related thoughts.

Not to mention more informative.

Giving reasons why some tropes were not allowed to have IRL examples at least set better limits in an easily digestible format admins could point anyone to on one page.

And you aren't wrong, either. Some pages TV Tropes really, really regrets allowing IRL examples for, and the version ATT has archived should provide several clues as to the more embarrassing ones.

However, bit of a caveat: Some pages were denied IRL examples because Fast Eddie was asshurt he was getting mentioned, like on "Protection From Editors".

Well it's no secret that these people were thirstier than your average incel. Plus, some of them actually hate an certain politician...And nearly every dictator who lived.

But some of that stuff was kind of educational.

And it turns out that the reason why they got rid of the explanations is because the page would refuse to load if it was too long...And they're too lazy to split it, evidently.

There are some choice entries on the Ambiguously Gay Western Animation section, but this one particularly stands out:

  • Franklin: Bear is very close and attached to Franklin, more than best friends usually are, and exclusively hangs out with Franklin for most of his time. He is tender, sensitive, effeminate, and doesn't have any interest in girls unlike Franklin. Bear dresses flamboyantly in a small and unbuttoned blue sleeveless vest. note Which is a gay cowboy stereotype and in Real Life, kids don’t walk around and dress like that. (This is even more odd considering that the characters don’t really need to wear clothes. It’s definitely not going to keep him very warm anyways which means it could be a gaudy fashion statement.) Bear also likes to get very touchy-feely with Franklin and routinely tickles him, in odd positions.

I'm going to look at the pages of the most babyish and inoffensive (by normal standards) shows for some gold.
